Look at this 1/0 I just bought

I will try and take some pictures tonight and show you the difference in size. You can tell the difference when you try to use a 0ga crimp ring on the Knu. It will fit the 0ga welding wire easily and you have to cut some of the strands of copper to make it fit on the Knu Kollosus wire and the new Kicker wire.

if the knu wire is 1/0 then of course 0 gauge crimps will be too small

I used plenty of welding wire, still have some, somewhere...but 1/0 welding wire is equivalent to 2 awg wire I'd say.

Right? I know some companies make the shittty stuff like I accidentally bought from a local shop. A whole 5ft of 4 guage to finish off the setup and the *** sold me the stuff that was the 8ga with the 4ga jacket. Good thing he was cheap. I shoulda paid attention. Education is priceless.

Yes, you're correct...but most welding wire I've seen is not awg certified, and the sizing is off. Example, I bought some 1/0 gauge welding wire and it was smaller then 1/0awg wire from Kicker.

No shit huh? Maybe that is why the wire I just got this morning was so cheap. I always thought of welding cable to not be like that. Just kuz it is for pulling current, not beauty contest.

By no means am I saying it will make you louder by going w/ one over the other but the fact is that 1/0ga welding wire is not the same size as Knu's Kollossus, Kicker Hyperflex or Lighting Audio 1/0ga wire.

true, but is it really worth 4x the amount of money you spend on welding cable? My cheap *** thinks not.

I never said it was better. I just said they are not the same in size. I am a firm believer that the welding wire is just as good when it comes to power transfer as actuall amp install wire. You just need to usually get one size bigger in welding wire. Now, Streetwires and most of the others are the same size as 1/0ga welding wire. It's just the few like Knu Kollossus, Kicker Hyperflex and Lighting Audio that are larger in size.

The only real benefit amp wire has over welding wire is that amp wire is usually tinned and will not corrode as easily, much like marine grade wire. The jacket on welding wire is water and oil resistant as well.

You should still be able to get 2/0ga welding wire from that source cheaper than Knu's Kollossus and much cheaper than Kicker Hyperflex and Lighting Audio.

It's the cover on the Kicker wire that makes it so flexible. I think that cover does not offer enough protection against scrapes and cuts like the other manufactures covers (Kickers Hyperflex cover is way to soft). Maybe I just worry too much about stuff like that but it offers me piece of mind.

I knew about your source over two years ago when he was selling 1/0ga wire for $00.89 per ft.

Look below for a comparison of the wire.

The orange wire in the middle is the 1/0ga wire you will receive (maybe a different color but this was from that link you posted). The ***** black wire to the right of it is 1/0ga Lighting Audio and the red wire to the left of it is 2/0ga welding wire from the same place. As you can see, the Lighting Audio wire is larger than the 1/0ga welding wire and basically the same size as the 2/0ga welding wire.

No, I don't think the actual amp wire is worth 4X the amount of welding wire.

The Knu is the same size as the Lighting Audio but I will get another pick up shortly of the Knu, Kicker, Lighting Audio and welding wire.
