Im thinking about doing a single AQ Hdc3 15 Alum coil on about 3k or 4k

what im wanting out of this is primarily SPL over SQ, HOWEVER i dont want a burp box. I would like to get as close as i can to a 150db(atleast in the kick) with a single 15 on music

Im just looking for some opinions right now, maybe some idea's on a really high output enclosure lol....

This is probly a long shot like in the title but i have seen it achieved with these subs before just looking for some general ideas..... like box size, tuning etc.

Thanks for any input guys,

tune really high, dont think the sub can handle that kind of power on music for too long though, its a 3 inch coil correct?
yes its a 3 inch coil. after rise and voltage drop im pretty sure its not going to see that power all the time anyway. the only time i actually run my system full tilt is at comps which are not really that often. other wise when i ride around i dont go over 1/4 power really, sometimes i go to 1/2 power if im demoing. no need to demo at full power around here, me and my teammates are the loudest around the surround cities, not to sound cocky or nothing its just the truth. this is just one of those "boss & pioneer etc. subs are the sh1t" areas lol...

but anyways i usually tune for around 40hz. i try not to go up much more then that. i know my resin freq in my blazer is 52hz

also would you happen to have any exp with the enclosures for these boxes?

4th order... if you do the right recone, but if its the newest hdc3 copper coil, it will work fine.
its aluminum coil..... id rather not do a 4th if i dont have to though. i was also told not put hdc's in a 4th order due to the suspension. and mines NOT the newest model.

do you have any exp with hdc's?

i know they get loud and are efficient. im doing a street box tho, last time i had a 4th order for my hdc3 18 in my blazer it sounded like crap and my 18" street box was louder. i also dont want a huge box either, im trying to go as little as possible but still work for the sub. the most info ive gathered from searches around the the power i want to use is 4 - 4.5 cubes net. but im doing 3 or 4k so idk if i need to go smaller.

just throwing this out there... my 4th order "burp" box, does 145 kaos mwspl on like 700 watts, and burps 47's on 1k. plus, it plays flat withing 2db from 25-60hz... kaos is 3 min music average too... center windshield. just throwing that out there though lol

HDC's **** in 4th orders, suspension is too stiff, even on the newer ones.

I had best luck with 15's in 4.25^3. Try 20^2 port per cube and tune around 43-45Hz. Then use a port reducer for daily to drop tuning to around 38Hz.

If you have a 4kw amp you'll be fine for daily, if you plan to clamp 4kw then buy extra recones. I burped my alum coil HDC3's on 2 3500's at .5 numerous times with NO issues and did a few streetbeat runs also...

recone it... like I said lol. single spider, light cone, 4 layer coil. give that thing an ultra low Mms, Vas, and Fs. would destroy in a 4th. but I guess im just partial to that design

5 cube, 20" port per cube 17" deep. AQ subs are basically a DD knockoff, use the DD style box and it should go nicely.
my bad i should have said im using aeroports from the beginning, sorry. but yea im going to use aeros.... ive been told with aeros that you really dont have to use the same amount per cube as you would with slot port. How much would you recommend for aeros? Also just so im clear thats 5 cubes net correct?
