I am 33. A master automotive Technician on every level. A genius when it comes to math. And I know electrical theory very well. So heres my story. blew up my subs after 8 years. my system averaged 145db and cost me 1300$ to build. I am an audiophile. My system was super clean and you could hear every sound and instrument like it was next to you at any volume that made the system breathe. And I make my own custom boxes. I built my own amp btw used an old Infinity reference series 1357W RMS 2 channel amp as the chassis for my work. it pushed 800w+ RMS at 2 ohms when it was done per channel. I bought alpine type R 12" subs and blew em up 8 months later, then bought Orions not the HCCA (which do blow cones after prolonged use btw 70-80$ repair I think there over rated) but they were rated higher than my type R's. 3 months later in the graveyard. bought used rockford 12's blew em up in 3 weeks, bought 12" memphis subs again not competition and rated higher than my Type R's and they lasted less than 2 weeks. All my friends dubbed me the "Sub Murderer" So I said to myself "I'll show you you stinkin amp!" bought 2 of these wired em in. Blew my amp up in 3 hours of usage just breaking them in.*
Overall: BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!!! not audiophile quality, dont get as low as others, but I can live with that. At 48hz I can lean back in my seat and look at my instrument cluster and cant read it when the bass hits. me and my buddy sat in my driveway for 30 minutes listening to little john, ying yang twins, YG, and drake. just to get a back massage...... it was nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif_. I took a shot during turn it down for what (we were celebrating the new subs) and I vomited on myself because the bass made it go down the wrong tube! Do I really need to go on. Gave it 4 stars for 1 reason, 1.3 ohms of resistance ***** to wire properly and if you dont know what your doing it's a waste of money
Value: comparable to 600$ competition subs for 200$ need I say more
Look/Design: I dont care about looks but they do look impressive. Designed like a rock!!!!
Durability: huuuge magnet, thick cast case, heavy duty wires hard wired to cone, cone is bullet proof. Every part of this sub is built for power.
Features: subs don't have features. they perform or they dont. Theese Perform!
Ease of use: not user friendly. know your math, electrical theory, and how to wire subs or kiss your amp goodbye!
So 128db out of box not broken in babying them. 7 days in a row about 2 hours each use. I push subs early as to not create ridges in the cones. 10 hours to mate the cones then bump em to smooth em out. turned it up 141db before warm. 3 hour road test at near max volume amp died. Was so hot I had to give it 30 minutes before I could touch it with bare hands. got louder by at least 8db as they warmed up. (I have never heard subs make such a change in sound after being warmed up, takes a solid 10 minutes). still limited on funds I purchased a 30F PC and a hifonics 2000W class D monoblock to power them. wired it at 1.3 ohms and is still getting the amp too hot for my taste. I will be returning the amp for something over 3000 or buying a 2nd PC and amp and running 2kw to each sub.
180A alt wired for up to 200A 1000 CCA deep cell batt 1/0 guage all the way. lights still dim voltage still drops. brought friend to supermarket today on a test run. 100 feet from front door and in the middle of a crowded supermarket he could hear me clearly. I make disturbing the peace fun //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif*
