local shops?

O ya definitly check that out first. That more than likely has something to do with it. I mean thats not normal. You have something wired wrong or bad connection somewhere for that to happen. Id be willing to bet its fine after you figure that out. Make sure both power and ground have good connections, scrap the paint off the ground point good too.
will do.. quick question though. could this be from power wire and rca wire crossing?

Um, did you touch the power wire on the rca? Thats what it sounds like your getting at haha.. Im not sure, i would think if the rcas were hooked to the deck and you ran power into the rca it could possibly damage the outputs on the deck, possibly causing the weird noise, not sure tho.

Unhook the rca cables from the amp and/or deck and see if its still making noise.

But one thing, you said even if the deck is off it makes noise, right? If so, that is a problem cuz your amp should turn off when the deck is turned off. You must have some shit wired up wrong.

the noise stops when i disconect the rcas from the amp, and the rcas and power wire cross eachother where my trunk meets the cabin, and i did not mean when my deck is turned off, i meant like volume off or ipod on pause.

dmm and test tones which i guess i could get test tones but ya i rewired my shyt and it just didnt sound right so i wanted to just drop it off and have them tune it up and make it sound good and they want 75 an hour...
are you sure these shops you are talking to are going to go to all that trouble. ive known 2 guys that run shops and another guy that works at a "high end" shop and they all set by ear. im willing to bet that the shops you are talking to would do the same.

Ah i thought you meant you got power into the rca cable ha.. My bad. That COULD introduce noise into the rca cables. Your best bet is try another set of rca's. Those rca's could be bad, or it could just be introducing noise from the power wire. If its easy, just rerout the wires, if not run another set and see if that gets rid of the noise. If not, you may need to try grouding your rca cables like ive seen alot of times. Other than that, i dono. Id check those rca's out first tho.

Well atleast you got the power wire upgraded now. Hope you can get it figured out, and not have to pay a shop a ton to get it tuned.
Did you mess with the gains when you rewired it or just put in the new wire and left all the settings alone? If you didnt mess with settings, that seems weird that it doenst sound right now with the bigger power wire.
yeah, something else is messed up....just upgrading power wire won't do that. where are your RCA cables running in relation to the power wire?

i do not know, should probably ask lol

rcas are straight down my driver side by the doors and in throught the dash, and my power goes through the firewall right by my brake and goes right through the middle of my car all the way to the back, but they run right next to each for like 2 feet while they enter my trunk.

that's kinda backwards from what most people do. RCA's are good down the middle so they're away from as much factory wiring as possible, then run power down one side.

this probably isn't the problem though, did you mess with the speaker wires? it's possible you've got a coil wired backwards or something.

funny thing because at first i got no sound from sub so i took out sub and the coil was wired wrong but i fixed that, so i know its not speaker wire

yeah, if you are getting most of your info from here or other sites it seems using a dmm is the norm but most guys you talk to that work in shops and what not have no clue how to set amps that way. id bet if you ask them they set by ear. and even if they say theyll do it with a dmm im willing to bet theyll set by ear anyways because theyll assume you wont know the difference.

I agree. Dont go to the shop unless you cannot figure it out for yourself, cuz i am pretty sure your problem has nothing to do with the gains being set incorrectly. You seem to have some wiring problems, so just check into that first and we can prolly help you get that figured out.
