If you want to play the subjective game, we could all run Pyle subs and claim they sound awesome. Point is, you can get two lesser subs, equaling greater displacement, to display less distortion than the fabled LMS would. Simple fact that actually applies to most 'supersubs' these days. Difference is, LMS's price has made it abundantly clear. Much like the debate over the value of a UL12. Are they awesome? Sure. But when you have to start quoting used prices to find a reasonable value (performance versus price) that should tell you there is a problem.
What was msrp on the LMS before AudioPulse had their famous overnight price increase? MSRP was right around $800 iirc. But now we quote that as the used price, and claim that's a solid deal. I guess it is, if you just have to have an 'LMS Ultra' for bragging rights. If Im gonna drop that kinda cash on a single driver, i'll wait for the sicko-x to come out.
Nothing taking away from the LMS Ultra's performance. But its price tag has made it obsolete to anyone concerned about a price/performance ratio.
