ohh, maybe you can get ahold of a HU that is the same brand so you can use that harness. what vehicle is this?

I guess ill give wrapping the RCA's a try so long as it cant cause no harm, righ?

try grounding the head unit directly to the battery. This eliminated all of the alternator whine that was in my system and i couldn't be happier

Make a new ground for the HU to the chassis. You can also get an rca to 3.5 mm jack so you can plug your ipod directly into the amp. see if that solves it

i had the same issue on a pioneer HU i have since removed, i grounded head unit DIRECTLY to chassis no harnesses involved, and grounded rcas, and it git rid of all alternator wine

HU is grounded directly, im not using a harness. Im gonna be giving the RCA grounding a try.

Once you try wrapping the rcas you should try the suggestion above and remove the hu from the equation by plugging an ipod directly to amp.

If all that doesnt work ground the hu directly to the amp. I know it sounds crazy but I've done it many times when I couldnt get rid of whine in many vehicles. Sometimes this eliminated it entirely and sometimes by at least 50%.

I think wrapping the RCA's worked! Gotta take it for a ride but i think its gone and was able to raise my amp up finally.

how do you ground the rcas to the amp? Solder a wire to the outer shield of the rca to any point on the amp? Could I ground it to the same point the amp is grounded?

Just run a temporary wire outside of the car to the battery and see if that fixes your whine. If it does then you can go ahead and put a permanent wire in. If it doesnt work then no harm done

The problem is finding the time to take the console off, its ***** in my car dismantling everything.
