I'm looking around at some cheap amps that will do about 100w x 4. I'm active, so I don't need much control from the amp...just power. I'm finding quite a few cheap amps, but I also find a lot of other amps with the same power but are $200 more (Zed, DLS, etc)...higher end brands. Is this something that really effects me since I have my control through a processor? I've found these and some questions. Note: These are all @ 4ohm output.

PG Octane R8.0:4. This will do 75x4. Does anyone know if it actually does more, if the birth sheets have shown more?

JBL GTO75.4. 104x4. 1% THD, though...

Soundstream Xstream Series XTA720.4. 90x4.

Soundstream Rubicon 600.4. 80x4.

HIFONICS ZXI-6406. 85x4.

Crunch PowerZone PZi175.4. 2006 model. 175x4. $123?!?! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif Seems toooooo good to be true, although it is at 14.4v. Like to know THD for this. I didn't check the others.

I'm going to continue to look, but those are what I came up with so far. Let me have your suggestions.

I've been looking for something like this as well - and was just getting ready to post to look for some reviews on the US Amps Xterminator series XT1600.4 - 200x4 Looks to get the job done very well - just don't know the SQ or quality of the amp - any thought appreciated as well - (not trying to hijack the thread) - but this might be another consideration as well.

Obviously this is a little off the original post, but I will post it up anyways.

Have you thought about buying a used high quality amp?

I am pretty much only use Phoenix Gold amps, now. You can get a decent quality 4 channel amp for around $200. The good thing is they will depreciate less and will give you more flexibilty if you change your minds (which most of us do anyways) I used to use cheaper amps at one time, but I found they horrible resale value after a couple of years and I had a hard time selling them. I kept a couple of them and gave them away to friends because it wasn't worth selling them any cheaper (ie no takers at $40-50).

hi, i have the same question but i have a old school rockford 400.4 amp i like it's SQ but i want something louder but with the same or better SQ what should i look for? and i don't want something too pricey
