Linksys/Cisco Question

Im having wireless connection problems. My netgear router is crapping out on me, It kicks every computer off my network after like 10-20 minutes of surfing, thats with 3 things on my network..

my laptop

my sisters computer

my moms computer

my wii

Ive heard that there is a way to load ciscos IOS on a linksys router..anyone know how to do this or have a link??

well the linksys stuff should have cisco stuff on it, they make the linksys stuff iirc, or have something to do with it, do you mean is there a way to load the cisco stuff onto the netgear router? I dunno, i had problems with my netgear so i went to linksys and couldnt be happier

also, you could try power cycling your equipment, this sometimes would work for my netgear, that or clear the routers settings back to factory and redo your network

Cicso is the business routers.

Linksys is the "home devision" of Cisco.

Why do you want to run a Cisco OS on a linksys router? Linksys OS' are usually decent enough to do whatever you want. And yes, for any netowrking, Linksys/Cisco is what you want provided you don't want to set up your own router/firewall using another PC and you have the extra cash to spend.

I've had similar problems with netgear router. The connection would die when my download speeds hit 1MB/sec. I would have to reboot it in order for it to work again.

Cisco=Linksys

And you can't put a cisco/linksys firmware on a netgear router.

Does the connection drop even if you just leave the computers on?

Or is it only when you are using them? Are you downloading anything?

Have you tried upgrading the firmware from netgear?

Did you make any changes to the permission setting for the router?
