Limited Choices

i also need to know where in nc you are ?
I am close enough to Raleigh/Durham NC. As far as the measurements of the trunk.. it's snowing outside and cold as ****, so that will have to wait lol

As far as a budget.. I don't know because there are so many different options out there. All I know is what the shop offered me, and that was at $2500 with everything installed, a box, battery, subs, comps, wires, 2 amps, dynamate, labor, LC2 switch/kill switch.. I mean the original budget was for $2500 for everything.. and I am being told that I can get different equipment that will sound or will be louder/better quality than a memphis setup.. so with that being said.. I would stick with a $2500 budget which would include every...thing..

Everything in my pic(sig) is under $2000 and is effin loud, one of the loudest setups in my entire area. Granted that was all my wiring and stuff

okay.. well ... thanks for that info.. however.. since I'm a newbie.. I have no idea what you have in your ride based on abbreviations.

HU: VR-3 - what is this, and where can I find it?

Front Stage: Stock (Powerbass Xtreme 6x9s on the way!) - what is a front stage? and where can I find these?

Sub Stage: GPI Attitude 15" - I think I get this one.. your subs.. or one sub? a 15"?

Sub Amp: AQ2200D @ 1ohm

Highs Amp: SSL EV2.1600D

Electrical: KNU 1/0AWG, Stock batt/alt, XS Power D3100 - know nothing about this.. how much is this upgrade?

Box: 3.6cu. ft @ 30hz - hz?

I know these are silly *** questions.. believe it or not, I'm 33. I just don't know this ****.

I was using it for an example, but i guess i can answer those.

VR-3 is a brand of head unit. I got it for cheap

Front stage is the speakers in the front of the vehicle, in my case i replaced the door speakers with Powerbass Xtreme series 6x9

Sub stage is well.. the sub. It's a single 15 (It's ~$460 new)

Sub amp. Audioque 2200D @ 1ohm (1ohm is how its wired, very easy to do)

High Amp - Thats the amplifier powering the Front Stage

Electrical - KNU is the wire brand i use. KNU Kollossus its called, got just enough for to make it. The only other upgrade is the XS Power D3100 ($350 new)

Box - Had it custom built by a box builder, the tuning is what determines what frequencies your woofer sounds best at or around. It's all about musical preference

edit: I paid around $1700 all said and done at the end.

If anything to get out of this, im not telling you what to buy. Im just telling you that you can great a loud and clean as hell setup for less than $2000. Definition of 'loud' on this forum is... well way out of our league

okay good - and the bass doesn't drown out the highs and mids? would I need another alternator or extra batteries? will it pull power or dim lights?
The speakers are ear piercing loud on the SSL amplifier. So no, the bass does not drown out the highs. My alternator is left stock, nothing done to it. If you were looking for a setup with the same amount of wattage as me, you would want a large battery designed for 2000 watts+. With my XS Power D3100, i dont get major dimming when playing it at maximum volume.

"major" dimming.. hmm.. so there is some.. and max volume? you never want to go further than max? If you are at max volume.. your ears dont want more? Any idea how much a batter or 200+ watts cost?

It's somewhat noticable, but not enough to obstruct vision or annoy you. Nothing like it used to be without a second battery. Im content with my system the way it is. Upgrading at this point would require a dickton more money, plus i have to move it all to a new vehicle.

(assuming 2000watts, not 200)As for batteries, i always recommend XS power: XS Power D2400 - $300. Never hurts to go too big, and better off for if you do wish to upgrade later.

You are probably getting lost at this point: The installation was easy as hell for this. Hardest part is finding a conduit to run the power wire from front to back, thats the worst part.
