Lights still dimming

So I'm running JL Audio 1000/1 and 300/4...I have a Optima red top as a primary battery and a capacitor. The lights still dim a lot...it dims so much that my radar detector plugged into my cig lighter shows low volt when the bass hits. I actually notice no difference with the battery and cap as it still dims. I have a 02 Tacoma 3.4L...any suggestions other than a seperate battery (no room) or new larger alternator?

Have you done "big 3"?what voltage does your battery rest at?

The money spent on the cap could have gone toward something far more useful. ie: an alternator and/or Big 3 as stated above (if you don't currently have it).
