lights dimming

ok here is my problem....i got 4 8inch mids in back dash..1 6inch mid and front doors...on a 1500watt 2 channel audiofonics amp....currently running 4ga wire...with big 3 done under hood in stinger 1/0 wire...34/78 yellow top under hood.... battery ground to frame and sanded.....when i turn my radio up high....my lights start to flicker....does that mean i am running to many watts for the wire?? or what could it be??

this weekend...i will be running my 2 runs of 1/0 wire...and have 2 D31T in trunk...but for now i am trying to find out why it is dimming.....also like when i come to a stop in my car the voltage drops to around 12v and then goes right back up...it also does it when the a/c kicks in ....

when my car is on it is reading at the amp around 13.1 then when i turn radio up it runns around 12.8...and under hood battery is reading like 14.0 when running and like 13.2 when turned up

is that the only thing it could be?? also what about the voltage drop when i stop ...

Voltage drop sounds like you got too much bump for your electrical. When you stop your RPM drops to idle compared to driving when your rpm is like 1500 plus. Lower RPM means your alt is turning at lower RPM. Like any generator this would give you a voltage drop. Not an expert but thats my guess bro. Stop the car, watch the voltage drop and then do some rpm reving and see where it goes.

so you are saying the speakers i am running and amp is pulling to much power for that 4ga i got ran??......even after i took my old system out and put it all back to factory it still droped volts when i stoped...no one else has an idea what it could be??

its should have nothing to do with the 4 guage....its called voltage drop. above poster was correct your alt doesnt charge as high and put out full amperage at idle thus why you have greater voltage drop at idle. add a battery in the back like mentioned

and then that should solve the problem?? i will add them tommorrow then....

it may... it really depends. i was seeing really small voltage drops like not even a volt and my lights were still dimming a bit
