lets talk midbass

well... ur best bet is going to be to choose a headunit that can do 3way active.. midbass tweeter and sub... a lot of alpines do it and some others....first is going to be finding a midbase/range speaker that suits ur needs if ur running a sub woofer ur going to want a midbass/range that will play from 45-50hz-2k pretty flat..if u can find a mid that will play in the 1-2k region u need to find a tweet with a Fs of around 1-2k lower then 1k is fine after that u need to find a desent 4 channel amp 100x4 would be good or a good 5 channel if u dont already have a amp for ur subwoofer... run the midbass/range off 2 channels and the tweets off 2 channels.. id keep the midbass in the doors and throw the tweets in the pillars... then start adjusting stuff

i guess something to fill in the gap between the sub-stage and the front. but i just have the OEM componets now, so once i get that, then i might not need anything. more or less looking into afterwards what i might need to do.
i have a front stage and a sub. no gaps between them. alot of people think i have 8's in the doors. or a rear fill in the back side panels. i don't.

I havent read the whole thread, but this is a classic car audio problem. Someone wants more midbass, but they want it easy, like mounting it to the rear deck or not going active. Welcome to car audio, where getting god-like midbass, in its proper form (in front of you), is just about the hardest thing to accomplish.

Midbass speakers play midbass, subs play subsonics. To say you want to buy a sub for midbass is like saying you want to buy a tweeter for midbass. If you are gonna set up the system properly, you are gonna have to educate yourself a little bit more imo. Not realizing where midbass should be mounted, or what type of driver to use, are some pretty fundamental issues.

if ur midbass sounds like its comming from the rear panels u have some serious staging problems

when u say "IB" do u mean isobaric or inifinite baffle>
inifinite baffle. i honestly have no clue what isobaric means. but i think i'm gonna wait till i get my aftermarket front stage installed to see if i need anything of that sort.

It's taken me 4 sets of midbass speakers and multiple goes at my doors to realize that the amount of work to get proper midbass integration with a subwoofer might just be the single hardest part of car audio tuning I've ever had.

I was pretty sure this thread would die off when you said you would wait until it was time to get started on the front stage.

Just get some ideas of what you want, and come back for suggestions when you have a solid budget in mind and what you're willing to do install wise. Until then, talk is truthfully useless.
