So, i'm on my way to having a nice SQ setup, and i'm thinkin bout also adding a midbass sub, but i have no clue bout them. where is the normal placement. do you run them IB, or sealed. and what freq. range do you put them on compaired to your mids and sub-section. any suggestions on good SQ oriented subs. thanks.

my midbasses are not "subs". They are in my doors. Dyn mw162's. The door is dead as a coffin, and sealed as tight.

Essentially they are IB in this application but much more sealed than a normal in-door install.

Now, I'll x2 CRX. What location do you have to put this in. What kind of processing do you have? Do you plan to go with an active 2, or 3 way?

Give as much info as you can.

thats where i'm stuck, i have no clue what i need to install to get the best sound. now, i'm not going to go wild and spend a butt load of money, but i want something nice. i'll most likely be buying the componets off dvrmstrng he has for sale here. i already have some diamond D-6's and a Xtant 600.2 for em. and i wanna get a nother xtant for the front stage when i can find one up for sale. everything else is up in the air.

edit- and a XXV-01D up front.

hmmmm....

Well, in this case we're ruling out an active setup.

1. So, you're looking for a good set of comps, maybe?

2. OR you're looking for some small "subs" to mount to your rear deck.

If it's 1, then you need something to fit up front and you'll want to deaden your doors like no other.

If it's 2, then you're looking at keeping your current front stage setup and replacing rear with a good set of IB midbasses. If 6.5 is all you can fit back there y ou may have some trouble finding the appropriate speaker.

What kind of music do you listen to the most? Are you looking for throbbing midbass or just a little something more in between the highs & lows?

What kind of budget do you have?

IF it were me, AND my budget could sustain the extra work it would take to do it; I'd try to find a good set of comps to put up front and forget about rears completely. Take some money ($100 or so) and use that to buy some deadener and get a proper install on your front doors.

What do you mean by "midbass sub" in your OP? I think you're making this more complicated than it is: a good front stage and a good sub (or two)

i'm thinkin option #2 please. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif budget in the mid 200's. i listin to allmost anything but pop. mostly rap, classic rock, and... alternative (sp?) i guess you could call it.

i guess something to fill in the gap between the sub-stage and the front. but i just have the OEM componets now, so once i get that, then i might not need anything. more or less looking into afterwards what i might need to do.

Okay, so you have no interest in replacing your front speakers and you ONLY want a set of midbass speakers?

You have an amp to drive these with, correct?

What's your current setup look like?

(lot of questions, but we need to know)

yes, i'm gonna change the front stage. just haven't got that far.

edit- post 5 has my setup :p

IMO, you're getting too far ahead of yourself.

Concentrate on your front stage for now. Once you finish that up you may not want to even bother with rear midbasses. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

true. i don't think i'll even do rear stage. just like a cap. u can spend money on it, but it's better spent elsewhere //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
