I get tired and i know most of you do too of reading on here and having your topics or others flooded with spam messages. I see probably 100 spam posts/topics a day on here and i know we can do something about it.
I personally feel its the site admins job to take care of this problem, or atleast the designated mods. I mean, we all come here and congregate or whatever, basically drawing traffic to the site and making more money for the owner. Honestly, with all the ads hes gotta be making decent money off ad traffic. He should atleast take a few minutes out of his day and redo the registering process to prevent these spammers from coming, there has to be a better way to prevent it. I see some forums that make it where you have to get approved my site members/admin before posting at all, and have to wait by email. I think thatd be great, maybe have a section for "new member approvals" where the person registering types a little info about themself/their system and we vote on the approval. Would also serve to keep some idiots out. Since im sure the site owner would probably not have enough time to review a few emails each day.
Anyway, to my plan here. We should all make it a point to report the spam posts when theyre posted. Assuming theyre going to the admin/mods inboxes, thatll give them a taste of what his little money generators are dealing with when were browsing here. Seems on average theres anywhere from 300-900 actual members here. Lets say half that, 400 or so took time to report 10 spam posts a day (we have plenty to report) when they seen them, thats 4000 messages in the admins/mods box or whatever. For those that dont know, the spam report button is at the top right corner of every post, the little triangle that looks like this -
You can report spam every 60 seconds, if you do it more than that you get an error message, to be safe wait about 2 mins then do it again if you see multiple posts in a thread. I say we all take time out of our busy internet lives to do this atleast a couple times a day, like i said maybe we can change something.
