Lets discuss tipping

minimum for servers here is $4.xx. The reason it is lower is because the government figures your tips are part of your wages. You are also taxed on your tips, unless you work under the table at some grease pit.
The big tippers compensate for the no tippers. My wife makes $50k a year and works a measly 34 hours a week.
I thought about pimping my wife out too.

what sucks is you have to pay ppl out of your tips. At outback here the waitress has to give 1% of all her tables tickets to the bussboy and like 1% to the server. Even if she gets no tip she still has to pay them.. Pretty gay huh?

Works for me:D Unfortunately, it seems are lifestyle has gone far beyond that. I make the same and sometimes it doesn't seem to be enough.
So she works in Chicago? Nice rest's there. I visited there for the first time a couple of years ago and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked the city.

Like the wannabe douche bags with the superiority complexes who happen to be posting on here also?
Welcome to ca.com, most people on here appear to have this issue. (ex. all the "saw this idiot in best buy" threads).Smart population eh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Now that really does ****. What about the barkeeps, do they get a cut too?

Where I work we have to tip out the bussers 2.5% of our total sales. For example.. if I sell $800 in one night I have to tip out the bussers $20. It's all good though.. my take home after tip out would be around $135.

This would probably be on a double though... I rarely sell that much on a dinner shift unless it's a Friday night.

Nothing is mandatory. I don't have to obey laws, but I do, because its the right thing to do, tipping is the right thing to do, not based on morals, but rather social economics.
$10 paypal if you can prove that.

And I'll let a lot slide.

No proofs = no payment

As for myself; I only tip bartenders and only because I cannot escape it. I often get a tab so I can tip less.

I chose to cook a dinner for my gf rather than eat out...and if we decided to go out, I get it "to go" so I don't have to tip, and then rent a movie.

I don't see the purpose of tipping. I do not see what value they bring. I order food, they bring the food, they fill my cup. It is all rather simple. From McDonald's to Ruth's Chris to Flemings. From dollar menu to $50 plates...the process is the same. I find no additional value that a waitress provides that the 16 year old at Burger Kind doesn't. I would much rather see the cost of service included in the price and not compelled to tip based on some expectation of service. I understand many of you have been waiters...what value-added can you provide that cannot be provided by a Coke machine?

I did not read the entire thread but I usually tip 20% for food, $1 for strippers and $2 for them if they stuff ******* in my face and I end up with sparkles on my cheeks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The next time you go to Ruth's just waive the wait staff off when they approach. Sit there for as long as they will let you and then go home. Compare that experience with the last time you went. The difference is the value added.
