Lets discuss tipping

when i waited tables, there were a few people who always tipped like shit, and we remembered them. i made sure to always take as long as possible on everything for them, as i knew it wasn't going to do me any good to be on point at all, as i would receive the same amount of money no matter what. i let their glasses go dry, i delayed putting in their order, i never bussed their table, i never checked on their food, i basically ignored them. i was hoping they would never come back, so that i wouldn't waste an hour on them not making any money while good paying customers were sitting somewhere else.
I'm sure your manager would have liked to know that the person he hired was purposely ignoring customers and trying to drive them away from his restaurant. If I was him you'd be fired before the customer even got his check.

Try to remember that these folks are people, too, who are probably struggling to survive alot more than you may be. Being condescending or ambivalent about their efforts says alot more about you than it does about their service.
I'm not going to get into people struggling to survive going out to eat at a restuarant, but I agree with the last part.

I've found the best way to deal with the service industry is to put forth your best effort all of the time. Your effort will not be appreciated 100% of the time, but at least you know for yourself that you actually did your job.

the reason you don't see a difference in service is becuase the waiters are trying to earn a tip. if htey knew you are a cheap bastard, then your service will ****.if you consistently go to the same restaurant and repeatedly screw your waiter, they will soon remember you and then you will see the quality of your service decrease. you'll be sitting there with an empty cup, maybe the wrong order, waiting for the check, etc.

that's why waiters get tipped, to make sure that doesnt' happen.

so in otherwords you were a whiney little ****.

people arent require to tip, and you probably didnt get tipped in the first place because you sucked as a waiter.

and i dont care if i got the wrong order over and over again ill just have you bring it back and get me what i want. eventually it goes back to you, not me getting the worse end out of it.

If your boss notices you messing up all the time, and you just happen to do it because you're not getting a tip, you're the one whos going to lose their job.

dumbass.

If you actually read first instead of posted first, you would already know that my discontent with the system leads me to not go to places where tipping is expected.

It seems like you go through a lot of trouble to exact vengence on those low tippers. Quite a lot of energy expended on hate. I feel sorry for you.

Welcome to 8 pages ago.
Fuck you this is my thread. And it obviously needed to be said again since some people in here don't quite understand the concept that they don't just get handed money for nothing.

if that's how you want to look at it. thing is, i never messed up anyone's order becuse that would have cost me time that i could have spent on another table that i was making money on. people like you would never have had to get something brought back twice.

i was actually very good as a server, one of the best, i made more money in 2 hours than some people did in a whole shift. i just don't like cheap people or peole who just don't tip.

uh... i guess you guys really don't know how restaurants work, the boss doesn't care about those people either. they are usually troublemakers, trying to get a free meal, complaining about everything, on and on.

thanks for the input though junior.

nope. our bosses were very good; they knew we were there for the money, not to kiss people's *****. we just had to handle it right, we couldn't be purposely rude, or purposely mess things up, but we just iddn't move as quickly as possible or go the extra mile because we knew it wasn't worth it.

all i saw from your posts was a bunch of whining about having to tip a service person. i skipped the details because it was just the usual shiht that all cheap people come up with. it's nothing new.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

oh yeah... there was no extra trouble to exact "vengeance" on anyone. quite the opposite in fact, there was no extra anything to those people! it' s not hate either, just disgust.

don't feel sorry for me, i don't. i haven't waited tables in years, but i woudn't change a thing about how i did it. i was very successful while doing it and built some pretty nice cars on a waiters income.
