Hello, I am very new to the world of car audio seeing as I just got my own car finally at the age of 18. I just bought a 2001 Blazer and am thinking of starting to make my own system. Back to my question though, I was looking around at local shops and internet sites and found a site called mycarjams.com http://www.mycarjams.com/. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience or thoughts on the capabilities or quality of these products. I realize that tey are not going to be as good as a kenwood or sony product but for a beginner like me that just wants a new head unit, a couple 10's with an amp, and a few new door speakers would these products do the job? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

My oh my do we have a lot to learn. Thats ok through, you came to a good place for some solid info. The best thing to do right now is Search. Search and search and keep searching. Every question you have, search for it. Every company you just typed makes the lowest quality products/worst products out there. If you have a very specific question, go ahead and ask them. But if they are general questions, search and you will find your answer. Also read the new member sticky threads. Welcome to the boards.

1. Stay of mycarjams.com if thats what they are doing over there.

2. The equipment listed is considered the extreme low end.

3. Educate yourself.

4. Read through alot of forums. This site is good and there are some others, take it easy though going to places like DIY or ECA might start making you brain hurt.

5. Go to different local stereo shops and just chesk out all the different stuff they sell, listen to it, stay away from the flea market.

6. If you have a question try the search function first or your generally asking for a flaming.

7. Don't believe everything you are told at local shops or on forums, get educated so you can make good decisions.

Everyone has a different budget but there is some good decent priced stuff out there. The stuff you listed is not decent budget stuff, it is the cheap cheap cheap budget stuff.

How much are you looking to spend?

uh, the last time I looked the Lanzar Opti 4000's were great amps...I know tons of people who compete with them and put up great numbers....uh ya know...considering they're the same motherboard as the Soundstream 6500's. Plus if you can find some pre-buyout lanzar mids/subs from the late 90's you got some great drivers.

however, all the rest listed is low grade dog food.

Some brands to consider are :

Stereo Integrity

Massive Audio

FI car audio

Soundsplinter

RD Audio

Mach 5 Audio

Image Dynamics

Digital Designs

Alpine Type R's

This time around platestacker is right. That search button is a Godsend. Use it and it will serve you well.

Pyle, Legacy, Pyramid, and Roadmaster are all fine quality paperweights made to look and act like speakers - but it'd be stupid to try and use them as real speakers. There are a few things made by those brands that are good, but you'd never find them nowadays, so just take that as a literal for now.

Lanzar is OK. Better than the others you listed, but still low budget stuff.

If you want a setup, tell us what you have to spend and what you listen to and maybe we can help fill in some gaps.

For a beginner, Kenwood and SONY would not be a bad bet, for HU or a decent, mild power amp. Unless the word Opti follows Lanzar, or you see some older speakers and subs on ebay, avoid.

Budget, goals. Do you want clearer sound, booming bass, loud and clear?

Yeah im still new to car audio as well.. i know quite a bit.. what brands are good.. how to hook everything up.. i just need to learn the technical part like ohms, rms, wattage.. everyones right.. search is your friend.. ive learned tons of shit just off here and just searcing..

As far as those brands go.. Stay away.. they're cheap for a reason.. but you can get some decent cheap stuff (kenwood amps are pretty cheap) i would only reccomend the eXcelon brand though.. my first setup was all sony and my subs blew within 2 weeks.. Sony has a couple Higher end head units that are alright but IMO there amps and subs = garbage..

Kicker Is a good brand... there subs are really great priced along with Alpine Type R's kicker's amps though i think are a little over priced

anyways like i said just search and youll get what you need

Thanks for all the new info guys. A lot of you have been asking how much I amwilling to spend and what type of music I listen to, well i really would like to try and keep it under $600 maybe $700 at the most. And I am not looking to get a huge amount of bass boost because I listen to mostly rock music like metallica, AC/DC, and some new stuff like Lamb of GOD so I don't really need ALOT of bass. And what I've read so far is that sony is not that good so what is the good stuff?
