Left side cutting in and out...

hey guys, I am new here but got a problem...

so i have an infinity component set I have had for several years. for some reason the left side pops every once in awhile and cuts out on low volume. If i turn the volume up and blast em for a sec, they come back. both the tweeter and mid cut in/out but only the tweeter makes the crackling noise when played at normal levels(until I turn em up, then back down)...no cuts in the wires, I was told that maybe its the wiring through the door gromet(sp?) its like i gotta force the power to the left side...

anyone?

equipment:

5.25" Infinity 50.5cs components

zapco amp(2)

12" TREO sub

Is the passive crossover in the door with the speakers? easy test, switch RCA l?R input to rule out HU, switch Speaker output on AMP to rule out the amp. If nothing changes with those swaps, its either speaker wire to the set or the crossover

Then you can also switch the tweeter outputs from the crossovers - process of elimination, work in one direction till you find the source of the problem
