Hey new project

I would like to install footwell LED strips

id like it to function just as my dome light,

On when the door opens, fades when door closes

A switch to turn on and off while the doors are closed or while driving

Basically exactly as the dome light functions

Ford focus 2008.

I have found the Fuse that controls the dome light. its a mini mini version of a 5amp blade fuse in the fuse box, hard to add a fuse tap any suggestions ?

Question :

Would I need to tap into that fuse or can i find a wire n splice into that ?

Should I add a fuse for my new LEDs what amp 2amp, 10 amp ?

i can connect it to the dome light fuse/wiring and it will work find but how do I get the switch to work ?

I did mine but didnt do any fancy fading, just lights up when head light turns on and the ones on the side of the seat turns on when engine turns on, i will change it to all turn on when the engines is on, see pics

I also have about 6 ft left on the blue LED and if you need them I can sell them to you $1 per foot shipped min 2 ft

dude ebay strips will get the job done, you can get 15 foot strips for under 10$

yup I already got my roll of LEDs

My question was my current dome lights when the doors are closed there is a switch that I can turn them on while driving

So if I wire my LEDs to the fuse that controls the dome all well and good doors open on, doors closed dim/off

HOW do I wire an illuminated 5pin Switch to turn them on and off while driving ?

Also on the drivers side there is not many places to hide the LEd strip that it wont be seen

Pins are +, N0, NC, C1 & -

I would goto www.the12volt.com very good relay diagams. I would tap the dome circuit run fused wire to a spst n/o or spdt relay and then proceed to add your L E D 's. If you want them to operate on the dome light swith then you need to tap on the load side of the switch.
