Led DLP, LCD, or Plasma

You say it is definitely not "my TV" but it is "that TV". You and I have the same set, except yours is 6" bigger then mines. The thread I linked you to is for all the HL-S models. Mines a Samsung HL-S5087W. I have an extended warranty as well, not from Best Buy though. I'll stop posting here, I'm ruining this guys thread. What's your budget for your new TV?
i didnt look at those threads //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

but i still maintain that it has to be an isolated incident or a bad batch of them. because mine definitly doesnt have that problem.

I dig my cheapie Sanyo 42" plasma. $760 and looks great. I cant stand LCD though, I dont like a screen that cant do real black.
Lol, then you have never seen a Sony Bravia xbr's? They have the deepest blacks and are right behind the top Plasma Pioneer Elite. Is what I have and they are something else.

I love my LCD's. Would never go plasma or DLP. To many issues with the DLP's and just never seen a Plasma I liked.

I got the LED DLP from samsung HL-T5087SAX, Couldn't be happier. I took almost a month and a half looking into them, I like LCD and they definitely have their market, but even the new 120hz tv's I could still see ghosting. I never found a tv that was as smooth as a RPTV. The only other tv I though about was the sony A3000, but it has a bulb, but at the time it was cheaper to get the 61" sony than to get my 50" samsung, I still went with the samsung because of the LED. Now I haven't seen the 120hz anywhere other than BB and CC, but I'm installing a couple in a conference room in the next couple weeks, so we'll see how good they are on proper cables with a good signal. They are getting a Blu-ray player in their conference room, that should look pretty good.

Thoshiba REGZA's also have very very good pictures..

Anyway, my next "TV" will be a projector.

My Panasonic HD CRT still is like the best picture ever. lol.

Maybe this might help..... This is taken from Consumer reports March 2008 " Top TVs".

LCD TVs- Common size is 17 to 52 inches.

Pros: wider range of sizes and greater choice of 1080p sets then plasmas. Lighter weight. Brighter images. Most have no reflections from screen. No risk of burn-in. Use less power. Slim.

Cons: Most have limited viewing angle. Don't match plasmas for deepest blacks and smooth motion.

Plasma TVs- Common size is 42 to 60 inches.

Pros: Virtually unlimited viewing angle. Deeper Blacks and better contrast then on LCDs. No motion blur. More screen for the money. Slim.

Cons: Shiny Screens show reflections in bright rooms. Images may leave a temporary or permanent impression. Use more power. Fewer 1080p plasma sets then 1080p LCDs.

Rear-Projection TVs- Common size is 50 to 70 inches

Pros: Most screen for the money. Wide selection of 1080p sets.

Cons: Bigger that flat panels, mostly 12 to 20 inches deep. Narrow viewing angle than on plasmas. Must periodically replace bulb, which cost $200 to $300. Have been more repair-prone then flat panels

^^ That above chart can only be used as a semi correct guideline.

DLP is complete trash, unless you want a bigger screen at a lower price. Its pretty much that simple. Their are only a couple of really good DLP's out right now. I would say the Mits DIamond series is probably the best DLP out on the market right now.

As far as an LCD, Either buy the Sony XBR5,(4 if you want an ugly *** frame),or buy the samsung 71 series. Both come in as big as a 52 inch. From what I sell about 75% of people go with the XBR5, 25% go with the samsung 71.

Pros and Cons:

The XBR5 has a clearer sharper picture, the samsung has deeper colors. The xbr5 has blurred glare, the 71 has direct glare. XBR5 more expensive, 71 less expensive.

If you want to go with a plasma dont go with anything other than a Pioneer Elite(Which is by FAR the best plasmas on the market) or a Panasonic.

In which case panasonic would be your best option, because Pioneer elites are very pricey.

In LCD nothing can compare to a sony XBR, or a 71 series samsung.

In plasma nothing beats Pioneer elite.

I must say I

I wouldn't buy anything else but a plasma, unless you are playing games for an extended period of time.

However that being said, I have 2 friends who have a plasma and they don't have any issue with burn in and they play games all the time.

its all a matter of preference to which type of picture you like. As said the Pioneer Elite brand cannot be compared to ANY other brand out their right now. As far as burn in...really doesnt exist anymore with the newer sets...its all about user installation/take care of your shit and dont leave it on all the time.
