Led DLP, LCD, or Plasma

getting rid of my RP DLP for something else. What are the pro's and con's of each? The new LED Dlp's are purported to sustain 60,000 minimum hours on the LED's and have no moving parts...including pesky fans to clean since the LED's do not generate much heat. This technology is very appealing to me as i love the vibrant display that DLP projects.

I also have a 42 Toshiba Regza LCD, which i love, in my bedroom. i have yet to experience any issues with it.

Plasma on the other hand, i'm not familiar with other than the Marriott i stayed at awhile back had a LG 40" Plasma and when laying on the bed looking at an up angle i noticed a lot of transitional dragging from frame to frame.

So theres my dilemma, i've talked to many sales people, and much to my chagrin, they all pointed to plasma, except the one guy pushing LED Dlp.

help me.......it'll be between 50-60" screen

If you don't need it at this very moment, I would wait for OLED. Going to be super thin and have fantastic picture.

If you need it now, I'd go LCD ONLY because if something dies on an LCD it will just be a pixel. Plasma's break and they are done.

yeah but i also saw the prices of oled and there's no way i can afford it.
Yeah, they are insane right now. That is why I said if you can wait a bit (only 16-18 months of life on these type of niche products anymore, so the prices come down FAST)

I own 3 LCD's and I would say I'm going to be biased.

My Sony Bravia is the best looking TV I have seen yet though. Both of my Sony's are XBR and I can't recommend them enough.

The one in my room is an offbrand, and it too looks pretty darn good (just not 1080)

one of the local shops here, the owner---who i trust---swears to me that he has LG 50" plasmas that have 65,000 hours on them and have yet to reach half brightness...still around 75% on their color meters

Like my 65" DLP. I think some manufacturers will come and replace a bulb if it blows, but from what i hear, bulb life is around 45,000 hours. think about it. 45,000 hours of being on? that is 5,625 DAYS of being on for 8 HOURS. that is over 15 YEARS!!!! of being on everyday for 8 hours. You are concerned about 50,000 plus?? When u talk TVs nowadays, who cares about half life. you do a lot of movies, gaming or sports watching??

something is WAY wrong with your DLP...

ive had my bulb going for 15 months with no issues... still starts up just as fast, still just as bright as when i got it. sounds like your tv is a dud.

that is true, i joined a class action lawsuit against Mitsubishi....but no way anyone is getting 45,000 hours out of a traditional DLp bulb

buddy's bulb blew, and mitsubishi came a replaced the bulb......
Mitsubishi will send someone out, but their warranty ONLY covers the first bulb replacement. I've spent over 8 hours on the phone with their "so called customer service department"
