Leaving ca.com

Bro I'm halfway there. There's a few others that aren't solely concerned about getting loud too.
Fair enough. I'm sorry for exaggerating.

Despite the Skar stuff, West is a pretty awesome dude. He sent out his Eclipse CD7200 to me just to play around with for a bit since I don't have the funds for a SQ deck ATM. Didn't ask for shipping or anything. Safe to say I was pretty floored by this.

I am the mod that is being referenced here.
I went into Skar's section and started cleaning up the post dumping that was simply not called for. Regardless of how you feel about anyone person, the basic rules of this forum still apply. I did not hand out infractions right away as we(the mods) were discussing this in the back room, but after some thought I decided that since I was only enforcing current rules that are in place now and have been known that infractions should be given. So I have been working through the back log of deleted posts and handing out some infractions to members. West was in fact one of the members. I even said in the infraction that it was do to post dumping outside the dome, however, he has attempted to twist this into a "protecting vendor" situation which of course it is not. If it was then we would have deleted far more posts including the one in the dome and simply banned West as he would have just kept making threads. As we can see, this is not what happened, I simply gave him a single(yes just one) infraction for his post dumping in a vendor section.

I am not saying I agree or disagree with his personal views on Skar, I am simply saying that we can not allow post dumping outside the dome which is what was going on. It has taken some time in the back room to try and talk through everything, and to be honest we have not even got on the same page with how to resolve the entire situation. Which means some actions may be late on our part as we are trying to make sure we do not come off as "protecting vendors", but we do need to keep some sort of order and various lines have been crossed for some time and this whole situation we have going on needs some attention to resolve. I would like to say it would happen over night, but that is simply not possible as it is a bit more intricate of a situation.
So since we're on the topic, care to fill us 12ers and 13ers on the implications of an infraction?

Infractions are nothing more then a "slap on the hand" so to speak. We give them out so that you know you did something against the rules. We do send out a PM explaining why you were given an infraction as well, of course if you have questions you can always respond asking why/how/when and so on.

The infraction system only allows you to get 3 infractions before it autobans you for 7 days.

Typically we try to just delete post dumping and such with out bans or infractions, but recently members have not been noticing or perhaps caring, that we are deleting posts rather then issuing infractions/bans. So we tend to send out an infraction as a "hey don't do this" kind of situation, even though the offense by rule should result in a ban. However, most over look this bit of information and just tell the moderators that we are horrible people and that it is our fault they are getting infractions or are banned.

I think that sums it up pretty much.

Also, @pro\-rabbit ; I know that some of our methods were fairly child-like, but I hope you and the mods can also understand our concerns for some of Kevin's actions on the forum (i.e. editing posts rather than deleting them). I agree that outside of the dome it shouldn't be ok and I won't be surprised if I receive an infraction myself. That being said, I appreciate your approach towards this situation as there's a fine line between excessive censorship and free reign. Not an easy decision to make.

Can't the vendors moderate their own forums though? I can understand mods getting involved in the situation if the vendor requests it. I personally think the rules are very fairly enforce on this site. West and 007 are being a bit ridiculous, overreacting about an insignificant situation.

I honestly don't feel at home if I'm romping around the forums without an infraction.

NO!!! West cant go.. he is a great addition to the forum..

I would like to put out however, that I DID say this would happen in kevin's subforum that was being dumped.. Im kind of psychic. Now Ill make another prediction that all the knowledgeable people who claimed they would leave if this happened will not go anyway (minus west.. he seems pretty sincere).

IF you do leave though, PM where the new forum will be!!! I need you guys! Lol

Hey, shut up

I understand some of the concerns but to be honest, at the same time it is not my call to remove or punish a vendor or to really address the concerns you all have. You would have talk with "Goob" the admin and see what he has to say.

I do thank you for understanding this entire situation though, nothing like a double edged sword to play with lol.

Yes, the vendors can/do moderate their own areas, however, that does not mean moderators can not go in to address issues. Not all vendors are here as much as we are and when things get to a situation like that have been with Skar then it is simply time to step in and try and help clean up the threads the best we can and move on. I think at this time Kevin feels more comfortable letting us deal with the issues that are blatantly against the rules as we can give infractions/bans if they are required.

This. Exactly how I thought this site was run, they handle their own sub-forum. I was wrong and found out via an infraction. I feel that's how it should be, and mods should get involved only when requested. But who am I //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

While agree to an extent, the larger issue is that they can not hand out infractions or anything. Post dumping is still against the rules even in a vendor section and needs to be addressed. Vendors are in a bad situation with moderation to be honest, if they delete a thread/post then you all will complain that they are hiding something or what ever the complaint is.

My personal opinion is that it should be handled like other forums, Vendors should not moderate their own forum. It creates far to many issues.

I would agree with this. Since it's in such disarray, care to bring this up to Goob?

I already sent him a text this evening about a few things. I will be compiling my thoughts a bit more about it in the morning and writing a more "in depth" PM to him as well.

Post dumping is against the rules. So is skamming people.

May I say this as I button things up here.

Pro-rabbit gave me an infraction for a quote from another member.

All this was started in facebook far away from this forum. From a member who had a disagreement with "rabbit".

The issue is this. The moderators choose when they want to enforce the rules based on who they like and who they dislike. He had an angry customer and he persists to hold that customer to a higher standard. The fact that this happened with a Skar issue only makes matters worse.

It's very convienient when he (and a few of the other mods) decide to "do their jobs" as moderators. And trust me I can understand completely why being a mod is a thankless job. Lots of gray area's etc.

Skar should have been banned a long time ago. But that is besides the point.

The post in question (that I recieved an infraction for) had been up for over a week and then pro-rabbit decided to handle the issue after he was called out in a facebook secret group.

Rabbit wanted to look "fair" and unbiased so he did some house cleaning.

I do give pro-rabbit props for owning up to it. I will not be here anymore. I am on diyma.com and fb. If any of you guys ever want to talk audio (jstankov@utk.edu on facebook and westco on diymobileaudio.com)

After this and the nonsence with MOT I really shouldn't stay here. I enjoyed posting with a lot of the members here. I wish everyone all the best.

-Joe
