The amount of time it takes to decide to draw your weapon, aim for an arm or leg, and fire is far less time than you have in that 10-15ft. And then assuming you hit an arm or leg, thats not going to keep them from cutting you severely or possibly killing you.

this is what most people dont seem to understand when it comes to doing non-lethal shooting. If you've made the decision to pull your gun, you fear for your life and at that point its me or him. I honestly have more to lose so, its not going to be me.

You will likely be arrested. they have a couple good video's on there. also some good education material about what to expect if you are involved in using your gun.
I've never been in a situation like that, so I wouldn't know. After I get my carrying license, I'll definitely be spending some time at the range.
If you are going to carry, you should carry all the time.
Owner of our company encourages it. He even reimbursed me for the cost of my ccw license, my holster, and half the cost of my 1st gun. I dont carry on my shoulder holster that much any more. But he prefers that I do so people can see that im armed. What do you carry? If its small enough, you can find a good comfortable in the waistband holster that will allow you to be concealed and still active. Also depends a lot on the type of clothing you wear too. A good gun belt is worth the cost, i've found they are more costly than the holster.
I'd get as much range time in before as you can. Its best to be comfortable with your firearm and know what to expect before going to your class. i remember at my class there were people there that had never shot a gun before and they had to spend extra time showing them how to use it.
