last time im going to ask...i promise

Don't buy a car you can't afford to fix.

.: looks at a4 with overheating problem. :.

Did you know the thermostat in an Audi A4 is behind the Timing? That means 2.7 hours of billable labor, plus .5 hours of billable labor for the drain and fill.

At $80 an hour, plus tax, disposal, o-ring, thermostat, and fluid - that's a four hundred dollar thermostat.

Beware.

I hate to be the voice of reason, because I love a hot car just as much as everybody else; But do this.

Buy a car for two grand.

Save that money.

I've heard lots of different sides of the argument - here's one to consider, from a Jaguar salesman I met at the bar;

Lease cars. Don't buy them.

Nothing depreciates faster than a car.

You can pay $250 a month for what amounts to a hunk of junk by the time it's paid off, (but hey, you get to keep the junk and the maintenance bills!) or you can lease a bright shiny new [insert desirable car] for the same $250. And guess what. In two years, when it starts to turn into a heap of junk, you get a brand new [insert desirable car of the future]

I'm inclined to believe him.

I think it's best practice to have a cheapo car (for me, a Prelude) and your nice car; (for me, the Audi).

Besides, if I'm really hurt for money, I can take that prelude and t-bone the next guy that tries to beat the light. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
