Laptop Shopping

I need a new or used laptop for school/work.. shopping on ebay.. budget is $900 max, but I'd rather spend more like 400-600..

I need a 17"+ screen and Id rather stick with a Tosheba/HP/Sony over a dell, gateway, or whatever.. not sure what the quality of Acer is like ?

So far I've only been looking at intel and I'm wondering if an i3/i5/i7 is really worth the extra money over a C2D...

Would anyone here go AMD ??

I was running a 3.2Ghz P4 Toshiba and have been happy with it... but the screen started getting lines through it, and I could use something faster.... and then I went and shattered the screen, so that is that....

What don't you like about your Toshiba ???

the fact that the mouse or touch pad will randomly click other places on the screen, so when im trying to type it will move the cursor around and start typing in another place. and i have a lot of trouble with the wireless, and wifi connections.

i know it is my computer because we have asus's and macs in the house as well and mine is the only one that has issues

I had that issue with my old Dell but I'm on my new Toshiba right now with no problems bro.

mine was five years old and I just got rid of it a couple months ago. Was solid as a brick but couldn't run anything.

I like my toshiba I've had a lemon policy with an HP and sent in my toshiba, I kinda beat the **** out if it though... my girl got a nice i3 toshiba hd graphics card 15 inch screen for 550.

Dont get an HP either.

Asus is where its at. Number one laptop company 2 years in a row in reliability and customer service. Cant beat that. Mines going on 3 years now and used as a dedicated gaming laptop and it hasnt had a hiccup. I never even had to use my warranty.

I just got an asus yesterday, I love this thing... its not really made for gaming, but everything else it does an awesome job at.

NOTE* I wouldnt usually give people best buy links, but I did alot of searching and I really couldn't find a better deal (when you factor its processor, weight, and battery life (6 hour batt life) . it's got a big hd to, but I'm getting a 120gig solid state and using the 640gig in an external.
