Laptop question

I am thinking about upgrading the ram on my laptop. Right now it only has 256 and I can upgrade it to 512. It is a dell c600for people wondering. So my question is how can I tell if I have one stick of 256 in there now or 2 sticks of 128? Also if I have only one stick of 256 is there a problem with just adding another one or should they both be matching? If someone could link me to what I need that would be great. Also I know it says max of 512 of ram but if anyone has had personal experiences with more working let me know also. Thank you.

Try that too. It'll tell you how man DIMMs (slots) you have and whats populated with what.

if you cant find the ram now how are you going to upgrade it?

my c610's have a door on the bottom middle with 3 screws and they take 2 dimms of pc100/133 low density ram
