Laptop Processor?

If anyone knows this it would be of great help.

Do you know where the processor for a laptop is?

Is it removable. Because on the back of my laptop that I am currently using it has a little square about 4 in long and 3 in wide and it can be taken off if you unscrew in, it just pulls away. It plugs into part of the computer. It also has an image that looks like 3 little cd's piled on top of eachother.

I was just wondering is this the processor?

at 4"x3" that isn't the chip.

Hard drive maybe? I've never cracked open a laptop so I can't really help you to much unless you post pics, then I can tell you what it is.

Yes thats the HDD. Need to crack it all the way to get to the processor. Never contemplated changing a CPU in a laptop, so I am not sure if it is removable or soldered to the mobo.

no the processor have some form of cooling latching it down. at least a heatsink and maybe a cooling fan. i'm sure that the processor will be removable.

I know i can remove mine. Some people have been buying 400mhz FSB native chips and running them in dell 9300 @ 533 for a nice cheap OC. .

For example, a 1.5GHz will now be 2.0GHz.
