First off, I don't even know if I should be posting this here lol, but I wanted too see what your opitions were. No flaming either okay. I'm either going to be getting a new laptop or desktop after the summer. I will be buying one or the other from Alienware.
The specs of the laptop are: P4 550J @ 3.4GHz, 512MB of RAM @ 533MHz, ATI Radeon X800 256MB, 60GB Harddrive, Opitical Drive One 8X Dual Layer DVD+/-RW, Opitical Drive Two 24x10x24 CD-RW, Intel High-Definition Audio 7.1, Win XP Pro w/SP2. This is about $4500 CDN with taxes and shipping.
Then the desktop is: P4 650 @ 3.4GHz, 1 GB Dual Channel RAM @ 533MHz, ATI Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition PCI-E 256MB, AlienIce Video Cooling, 160GB Harddrive SATA, Opitical Drive One CD-RW 52x36x52x/DVD-ROM 16X, Opitical Drive Two 16X Dual Layer DVD+/- RW Drive, Intel High-Definition Audio 7.1, Win XP Pro w/SP2. This is just under $4000 with taxes and shipping CDN.
I know both have their advantages and disadvantages. I know with laptops you can't really upprade them but with desktops you can upgrade them like hell. And both the laptop and desktop support PCI-E and DDR2. Both seem like very good systems. And i'm very picky when I buy a computer.
