L7's go louder

those are the 2 ohm models right? if you had 4 ohm models you should be runnin a 1 ohm load
also is ur box ported?
the l7s have dual voice coils i believe and in that case if it were dual 2ohm it would be running at 1 ohm load and the dual 4ohm would be run at 2 ohms! am i correct?

he said he has an 04 explorer right? wht is everybody talkign abotu how shitty trucks are for bass.. explorers are the shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

anyways.. if your current setup isnt hurting your ears pretty good at full volume, then somethins wrong. ive had bass systems for a couple years (ears adjusted to bass) and my type Rs with 1500 rms still get loud enough for me to want to turn it down pretty quickly.

triple check the out of phase thing.. and did you ever tell us tuning? box size and power sound good to me.. which wqay do you ahev the subs facing? what abotu the port(s)?

are you SURE you wired in parallel and not in series? what are your HU settings at? (as far as bass, sub level, loud on/off, etc.)

I think I started the crappy truck thing...completely missed that he said explorer, just read "truck," and assumed. Yes, explorers are very good for output.

You can wire subs a lot of different ways with a pair. For example, he's got dual two ohm subs, you can wire the coils of each sub in series (effective 4 ohm load per driver), then wire the two of those in series for an 8 ohm load, or in parallel for a 2 ohm load. You could also wire each driver's coils in parallel (1 ohm load per driver) and wire those together in series for a 2 ohm load, or in parallel for a .5 ohm load. Now, there's also the option that you could wire one driver's coils in parallel (1 ohm) and the other in series (4 ohm), then wire those together in series for a 5 ohm net resistence, or in parallel for a .8 ohm effective load.

So, what you said *could* be true, but there are MANY ways to wire drivers, which is why people have suggested he check his wiring. If by chance he's running an 8 ohm load, there is no chance he's getting anywhere near the 1700 watts he thinks.

I don't see how those 12" l7's aren't reaching there full potential with 850rms of power but yea I say just wire them down to either .5 ohm or get some new subs dude I think your expecitations are allitle to high. Yea first system I heard was 2 12" l5's off not even 1000 rms and boy did I think those hit now I want more from 2 15" H2's so yea i guess that theory is right.

believe me the l7's will wang just wire it at .5 and call it a day. You have more then enough power to run them jsut a matter of getting it to the subs. having the amp at 2 ohms after imped rise well yeah you get the picture. wire it at .5 and see em come to life. My 2 12's are at .5 on the 200.1
