l7 or jbl p-1500

I have a 12" l7 in the kicker enclosure it came with or I found in my garage a 15" jbl p-1500, im lookin for mostly spl so was wondering which wld get louder my amp is an alpine pdx1.1000

The jbl is older but its a 15" rms 400Watts as to the l7 which rms 750Watts but would the jbl be louder because its a 15"?

I would guess the jbl will sound better, but will probably blow if you try to make it louder than the kicker.
