well it is true the L7 does have more powerhandeling me myself i got to 15 inch L7s and they rumble and my freand got 2 15inch L5s not really to much defferince they still rock for about a 100 bucks less cant go wrong.just make sure that there in a big vented hacthback box .if there not you dont know what youre missing out on.
I have been asking the same questions all over Texas. I am in the process of getting 2 L7 15"'s but I can save about $75 for the L5's. I went into a small shop on Friday and they said that a lot of the L7's are tearing at the corners. Does anyone else know this to be true??? I like the square design but I don't want mine to rip. The guy wouldn't tell me what kind of box or what amp was driving them. I might change my mind and go with 4 L5 10" 's if I can get the truth about the corners. TR
I've seen a couple L7 setups and have heard no truth to the corners ripping. I also believe Arcane Paradise has the L7, check with him to see how his system is going. Other than that, the L7 comes with a warranty, I wouldn't worry about it. If Kicker had a problem with them ripping, I believe they would address the problem.
Could it be possible that the people who rip the corners of their speakers havent broken them in properly... kicker suggest 2 weeks at 1/3 volume to break them in due to their stiff structure and nature. Perhaps slamming the speaker without giving them a chance to break in and create a more fluid excursion, is the reason behind the rips in the corners, just a thought... With most subwoofers i find that if you take care of it, it will take care of you
well if you are not going to put 2000 watts to a paIR i think the l5's are great. they have a stamped basket instead of cast also. look at kicker's specs i think you will "see" what you are looking for.
