i used a calc that gave me 42.33 inches for the vent length... if i run it as an L along the back of the box, it would be the same as having a 42.33 long port right? it would just be an L instead of straight?

yep, be sure that you measure down the middle of the port though and account for end correction. http://www.jlaudio.com has a pretty good explanation of this.

thanks, end correction is supposed to be 1.5 times port width i believe right?

If you need a 42" port, your port should measure a total of 40" down the middle. Using a side of the box for the port will cause the port to continue 1/2 of the width after the end of the port.

the tutorial says to add 1/2 of the width of your port on to the end of the vent length :/

the port sticks out 1/2 of the ports width further than the wood does is what they mean

right, but how do i account for that? all i know is what the vent length calc is giving me (42)

Is the port calculator you are using figuring for a slot port? Or a normal port?

So how skilled are you with wood? If I give you my wood what could you do with it? It's rather large and thick, you may have a hard time with it. Are your wood mastering skills expensive? I have a local wood expert who knows how to work with it
