L-brackets and other ideas

so, i just purchased my viper791xv (182+35 for 3day for shipping) and itll be here by wed. or thurs... my dad is extremely nervous w/ me having my system because of horror stories of ppl breaking in and stealing systems. so for maximum security, i wanted to install L-brackets all around my box to hold it down in place, use security screws for better prevention, and disable my trunk release.

where can i find these L-brackets? i need to order them quick, and get them installed before school starts (august 16th).

i am also looking into locking my hood down w/ an additional thickly gauged steel wire locked down, so the only way to open the hood is to go underneith the car and use a key to unlock.

any other ideas to do for my installation?

L-brackets can be had at any hardware store

and keep in mind, the harder it is for you to hide the brain, the harder it is to cut it off.

also, keep in mind of bump rules at school. just don't do it.

im alot smarter than that, lol. kids around here are real shady. i plan to listen to my system wisely and keep a close eye on it. i didnt order regular ol' standard RF's or sony subs like every other highschooler around here. i want to make sure i dont cut any corners on protecting my system.

and exactly w/ the brain...i just dont know of any particularly good places to hide it.

Do an air horn or 2, backup battery, proximity sensor, and microwave sensor with your alarm and you won't have any problems //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

got me some links to send me the right way?

and what do proximity/microwave sensors do?

i was thinking of installing another peizo siren..1 up front firing upward in my engine bay, and another inside my cabin near the back.

and how much do all the things you mentioned go for? im just a highschooler workin to pay off for all this sh!t, so i dont have too much money to blow...considering my whole system took a large chunk out of my funds. lol

Check out Viper's site they have a lot of add ons there. http://www.directed.com
The Proximity will chirp when someone is close to your car...it'll go off if they stay that close. The Microwave sensor will detect mass that is moving inside of your car.

sounds like great ideas, but to be truthful, i dont think i need them. i always keep my car in the garage, even if i run home for a minute. i never go to the mall w/ my own personal car, and i always leave it under a light in a nice field of vision.

ill look into the proximity sensor though...might be handy.

thanks for the insight

They sell sirens on eBay that have a battery contained within them, I bought one. I think it was $30 shipped, and is 128dB's. I just added it to the other siren that came with the alarm, and that shit is ear piercingly loud... How it works is, if someone cuts the power to the brain or siren, then the battery will kick in, and it will continue to sound until YOU use the key included with the siren, to shut it off. The siren is funcitonal as a normal siren would be, except when its cut you need the key to shut it off. I love it... Good peace of mind. And I tested it one day, but setting off the alarm and pulling the 12V from the brain, and it did as it was supposed to. Screamed like a banshi until I turned it off with my key.

Edit- and if you are going to use some L brackets for the box, make sure you check whats under the trunk floor before you drill.

my alarm comes today, so when i get it installed tomro, ill get an additional siren.

i just realized i cant do the L-brackets...

if i bolt it down, then i wont be able to get out my spare tire for if i ever get a flat...so out w/ that idea.
