Someone correct me here if I am wrong, but isn't a VFL150.1 like magnitudes more powerful than a KX1200.1? I have worked on the VFL150.1's and the VFL 200.1's and I can tell you they are a beast.

I haven't worked on a KX1200.1, but from the pics of the inside it just looks like a modest little Class AB mono amp with 12 output devices, can't possibly do more than 1200-1300 watts unless the rail voltage in it is way jacked up compared to most Class AB amps. Maybe I am looking at the wrong model?

With all that said, I personally think the VFL150.1 is really nice amp. If you found one for the same price range as that Kicker, then way to go.

Ah, I see went back to the photos, I see there must be 2 models of the KX1200. One is definately a Class AB amp, the other photo is definately a Class D amp.

wrong, ALL KX12001's are class d, some have done as high as 1800...

VFL should do more power, as it was builtt to be a cheater amp. But it is much more unstable, For a daily driver i'd take the 1200 over the 150.1

The photos I am reffering to are on ampguts, sites about worthless as it's always going down, so I cannot send you the link at the moment, but in those pics, there are 2 different amps, similar looking but not the same on the outside and one of them is DEFINATELY a class AB amp. Class D amps don't have Emitter Ballast resistors. Not sure if you represent Kicker or what but I believe I would check with them, because it does indeed look like there were 2 models, one AB, one D.

When the stupid amguts site comes back up, which it always seems to eventually, I will post the link to it, so you and him can see what I am talking about. One of the pictured amps is definately a Class AB amp. Someone may have screwed up the pics, and that's were my confusion has come from.

So sorry, someone must have screwed up the pics on that site. But still even with all this said, and someone "who works for kicker I might add" correcting me, and other people beating me up over saying the KX series sucks, go back and look, I stand corrected, it's the AB amps I was reffering to working on, I have never worked on a KX Class D, only AB. I have worked on the ZX series Class D however.

I get so mad at Kicker because when I was actually into car stereo back in the day, like 88-92 I used kicker subs, and they were bad *** except for the dustcaps falling off all the time (bad glue?) I am talking about the old C series with the gold KICKER lettering.

Kicker used to make great stuff, and I just don't think it's all that great anymore (like most stuff out there these days) so therefore I have a low opinion of it. We can leave it at that or if you want to insist that the new KICKER stuff is the best ever made, well I think you will be quickly proven wrong.

That's all you got to say? What happened to the kicker stuff? Why are the new subs so ugly? Why did my CVR 15" smoke so easily while testing a Treo SSX1500.1D at low volume? Why does the old C-10 I have here at the shop take a severe beating, start stinking, and still keeps on playing, while my newer model (like 2001) CVR15" just goes up in smoke? I got some Solobaric L5's here, brand new in box, older models square, but not the new ugly *** silver ones, and I am wondering how they are going to hold up in my truck? Should I sell them, are they gonna pop with just a SAZ-1500D on them?

you may be able to repair amps, but I suggest you find a professional installer next time.

I ran two ported L5 12's off my ZX25001, and never had an issue..........you tell me...
