ok i currently have an mj18 and i had it in a 6 cu ft ported box and i got a car so i was wondering if i were to buy one of those konaki 12 in subs that are basicly a knock off of the dd's and i port them in the recomended enclosure and give them proper power if they will be as loud if not louder than the mj-18....oh and this might be a stupid question comparing an 18 to a 12 but i know the mj's arent on the level of most other 18's...thanks

nice.......

I dunno, but for the $$, you could just sell it to some doofuss around town who knows nothing other than its loud and makes his trunk rattle for $150 if it isn't all you wanted, worth a shot to try for the $$

Depends... you want loud on the meter @ 60 Hz or loud @ 30 Hz ? The MJ-18 will destroy the Konakis on low-frequency extension... likely that the Konaki will burp a higher number in an SPL fart box, though.

Has anyone tested these to even see how they perform.
Yes... I've had hands on with the 12s and 15s -- what do you want to know? I'll sum it up:

1) Good cheap SPL sub, they are loud for burps

2) Requires epoxy re-inforcement of spider landing or you WILL break it

3) Sounds terrible... at least 20% of the ones I have had my hands on have a spider roll "inversion" issue that makes a loud "WACKING" sound

4) ARE NOT GOOD for lots of low-end, they excel at 40 Hz and up due to their incredibly high Fs

Alright,I didnt really read the thread on em,but I figured since they calling em dd knock offs, that they might/could have actually performed like DDs.Guess not.

Anyone measure the motor strength?
