I would venture to say that the Sundowns will take more abuse from a noob, but i could be wrong

lol .... im not fully noob... i just always used to go with rockford brand everything... but now i want to do some serious audio in this car... and i figure its time to step out the box from house hold brands.. so im trying to get as many pointers as i can get... because once its complete i dont wanna have to get things redone or new stuff because i was not happy with things.... now my thing is getting a custom box made... i guess ill have to make a post for that also.. i PM'ED a few people but they have not replied smfh

pm Phoenix_Risen. he is a close buddy of mine, he will surely reply to you, he does good box designs too. just decide what subs you want to run. also if you run 1000-1500 watts rms youre gonna need some electrical upgrade as in the big three and 1/0 to the trunk,

I agree with nate gotta do a custom box for whatever u get. PM DonH, Pro-Rabbit they can do what u need for a fair price. But if you go with 2 subs and you want to get that ap1800 (which is a decent amp that will do around rated power) you will need to get dual 4ohm subs and not dual 2ohm subs. That amp is only stable down to 1ohm and dual 4's will give you a 1ohm load. Dual 2's would leave u with .5ohm, and 2ohm.

just curious... lets say i run 3 subs.... do you think i will be able to get the air flow i need trying to run that many in a car? acura 2001 cl? what im asking will the custom box fit in my trunk

depends on how you build the box but you will not need three, its also hard to get the right ohm load. I have a single 12 doing 141+ decibels at 30 hz. Thats pretty loud, probably louder than anything youve heard I am guessing. Having a pair of 12s done right should knock you into next tuesday. If you build the box right, buy a decent sub and put some decent power to it, you wont need 20 subs to get loud. 1 12 or 1 15 will be more than enough if done right, and if its still not enough then be patient and do it right, but a correct box for two 12s is going to be pretty large, probably 5ish cubes net.

ok yeah ill stay with 2.... maybe i can find some even better subs used on here for a decent price... but then i high sometime its better to get new because u dont know if they broke the speaker in correctly... oh yeah and i tried sending a pm to your friend it say he can not be found or some bs

PM DonH, Pro-Rabbit.. Breaking in a sub is BS some say you have to if the speaker uses stiff spiders but I have ran many of subs and not once did I break them in and I have never had a sub fail (well I ripped the spiders on my 2510 but was due to my error not cause of not breaking it in). Most important thing when buying used is to know who u are buying from and get pic's/vids of the entire sub. Coil readings, etc if you do this then going used is a very good option.

yeah the whole buying em used is kinda scaring me lol i think ill go with some new sundown's or skars..... 2 of those in a custom ported box with a audiopipe 1800 watt... big 3... and maybe a second battery.. i think i should wake my area up with that lol

you do know there are other companies making budget subs other than skar and sundown right? such as ascendant, incriminator and even a local Cali company DC Sound Lab (dc lvl 3)
