Knukonceptz: KLM vs kolossus wire?

Well, im going to be running two batteries (one under hood, one in back of truck) instead of cramming the kinetik 2400 under the hood, so i figured im going to need 4 runs (2 power and 2 ground) between the batteries. This brings me to decide between some wire options. Looking at knukonceptz site, i can get the KLM cable (rated for 250A), for $1.75 a foot, or the kolossus cable (300A, 5200 strand) for $3.25 a foot. The question is, will the KLM cable suffice, or should i buy the kolossus cable? It may even be cheaper to do 6 runs of the KLM rather than 4 runs of the kolossus.

What do you all think?

im worried about the quality of the transfer of power. I mean, its going to be a HO alt pushed into the standard battery up front under the hood, which will be wired to the kinetik2400 in the rear of the truck (i'll say 20 feet away to avoid underestimating distance). I figured energy flow would be a big deal in this kinda situation, but i guess not? there will be around 3000RMS watts, and one amp will be ran at 1 ohm (and about 2500RMS)

why do you need 4 total runs? two runs of 1/0 kollossus should be enough. ground your rear battery to the chassis. as long as your connections are clean, resistance shouldnt be a problem. i try to aim within a hundreth of a volt from the front batt and the rear batt. iono if that makes any sense, tired as hell.

the big difference is the casing. the KLM wire is not nearly as flexible i have it works great just cant bend it as easily as the kol

4 runs is teh shit. Chassis

*sigh* lol

some say i can get away with two power runs and ground to the chassis, others say do four, some say it dont matter that much.

**** it, im buying KLM and if i dont like it, i'll change it

Actually, the big difference is the wire. KLM is aluminum, Kolossus is copper.

well you didnt even mention what amps you'll be using (unless i missed it) or how big of an alt. and that it really what matters...everyone is just spouting off suggestions without even knowing what kind of load you are gonna be running over these wires

KLM works fine. It has resistance comparable to an actual 1/0 copper power cable. It is oversized to the same cross area as the Kolossus Kable but is copper clad aluminum (90% AL, 10% CU) so it's resistance is equal to normal 1/0 copper cable being that Kolossus is darn near 2/0 cable.

And yes... I have a bunch of KLM //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well you are mostly right.

I believe KLM is 90% CCA (Copper-Coated Aluminum), which would mean 10% is copper.

For the price, KLM is great stuff, but Kolossus is about 50% more flexible, has 100% oxygen-free copper, and is HUGGEEEEE! Kolossus is definitely my wire of choice.

KLM is still plenty flexible for anything i've ever used it for though.
