The Jews were persecuted 60 years ago. There are still people alive that went through it. But as far as your quoted material, try telling that to the Armenians, or the Greeks; tell them to respect the Turks for marching their ancestors in the '20s to their deaths by the millions...and to this day, claiming it never happened. I'm not saying reparations are the way to solve problems; they certainly aren't going to change anything in the past nor will they make people in the present forget about it.

...but...an apology would be nice? A simple, "Yeah, back in 1917 we fucked up by burning millions alive in caves, but let's work to come to terms with that." I'd take that.
