i'm thinking on getting a JL audio W6 sub and i don't know which amplifier to choose

what do you think of Kenwood KAC-9104D and kicker zx750.1

with which one should i i go?

kicker is a little a bit more expensive than kenwood

so,

what do you think?

yes but the sub is 600rms

i have a kicker zx650.4 and i'm VERY proud of it

but there's a big difference in money

kicker is for $300 and kenwood for $170

i just don't know if kenwood is reliable

will it play good with the sub?

or it will blow up instantly?(i had a poweracoustic 900rms at 2 ohms class D, running with a Kicker L5. and it plaid for around 10 mins, then it blew up)

Arty,

I have a Kenwood excelon X-1R and it is absolutely bulletproof. I know it is not the same amp you are using. This amp was the first time I had ever used Kenwood amps and I must say for the money I spent I am very impressed with them.

this one is about the same price as kicker 750.1

KAC-9104D is about half price

as far as amps i trust kicker a LOT (i already have 2 of them and i'm totally satisfied)

but i don't want to spend that much cash

that's why i thought about KAC-9104D

yeah, i know

i already have 2 kicker amps and i am very proud of them

but 750.1 is $300 and kenwood is $179 which is a pretty big difference

if Kenwood can power my JL W6 i will get the kenwood one

if not i will pay the extra $ to get the kicker

but i have absolutely no idea what's going on with kenwood amps

are they reliable? will they push the rated RMS power?

I don't have the 9104D but the 8104D (non 1ohm capable) running 500W @ 2 Ohms, 2 boston G110s and it's been a great little amp for the DD. The Kenwoods can be had cheap.

I've had a JL 12w6v2 Sealed run off a Kenwood KAC-9104d and it pounded at 2-ohms. I've also put it to two Kicker CompVR 12s and that setup was pretty sick.

I also tried the 12w6v2 vented off a Kenwood Kac-8104d and I was pretty impressed with the SPL and quality (rated 500 rms at 2-ohms)

Judging by the two 30 amp fuses on the KAC-9104D, it's really putting out about 800 watts RMS at 2-ohms or maybe a little less.

I own a Kenwood Excelon KAC-x811d for myself and it handles everything I throw at it, even 1-ohm loads that some people say it cannot handle; They probably just have it installed wrong.

So to answer your question, that Kenwood amp WILL pound that W6, I can tell you from experience.

Kenwood Excellon> Kenwood by a longshot! The only way I would ever buy a Kenwood amp is if it was an Excellon amp, but even then I would still choose something better imo. I'd take a Kicker amp anyday, I absolutely loved my zx750.1.
