Kicker ZX2500 @ 1ohm for dd?

Ive ran over 2 of these amps at 1 ohm daily and have had no problems at all.Not even a cutoff.

I rode to someone house over 1 1/2 hrs bumpin hard as I like and it didnt even cutoff and wasnt much hotter then ambient.

No amp is optimized for one ohm............thats just stupid.

Some are better at lower ohms then others(20.1) and need to run that low to make power, but doesnt mean they are optimized???

Its harder to make power at a higher ohm then to do it at a lower ohm............thats why most amps dont make power till you cut the hell out of ohms to get to where the amps sweet spot is but Kicker makes thiers for the normal person thats not runnin 4 million subs.
I don't understand what you r sayin there. If an amp puts out the most power at an efficent rate at 1ohm why wouldnt you say it is optomized for 1 ohm? It may be arguable that it runs cleaner or more efficent at different loads but how is it "stupid" to say its optomized for 1ohm? Maybe need a different term for that??

Anyway... thanks for the "experienced input" still could have done without the opinions of people who have not used the kicker tho. I wish the Memphis had been out longer for testing. I loved the 1000d Memphis and the 1500d. and have tried the 4000d mojo. WOuld just go with 2 1500's but dollar for dollar a single 2500 justs makes more sense.

Sure.
I haven't had any experience with the Memphis, but if it follows their current streak of being very strong amps... then yes.

This kicker though... is the strongest amp I've had in my truck. Whenever I try out new amps, I have a few close friends around... and whichever is louder stays. The Kicker has beat out, two Modded MTX1501d's, IA 20.1 (@.35ohms), two Sundown SAZ1500d's.

Noah,

I totally forgot, what is your sub setup in the truck? And do you know what the impedance is at the burp freqency? Just curious since I have either forgotton or didn't know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Incorrect. Incorrect. Incorrect.
Can't use the n00bx approach of double wattage. Especially in unregulated/loosely regulated class D amplifiers.

Kicker felt it necessary to rate it for a 2ohm load for most people, and that's what they obviously warranty it for. But, those who are experience and know how to properly support the amplifier @1ohm, it will be able to if you feel so inclined.

Talking to Tracy, there isn't a large gain going from 2ohms to 1ohm.

how many true watts (DMM/Clamp Meter Measurement) did you get off of it at 1 ohm after rise and what did it rise to?
