Kicker Zx1500.1

I just got this amp from the ups guy yesterday. I use to run a hifonics brutus 1600watt mono @ 2 ohms >1100 watts. I got a small car with a 15 L7 in the trunk. I just installed this amp and i got the gain at about half, bass boost a little bit before the half mark, and x-over at about the first mark. My kicker is d4, wired to 2 ohms for 1500 watts from amp, but i guess my question is, like when i first got the brutus i smell a little bit of burning, but no smoke. My kicker is kind of new. It never really got a work out. Do you think its just the glue burning from the sub and the corners are breaking in? This kicker amp pushes out power.

I didnt think it was to much power,but it might be. What im not undrstanding is, i see guys running rockford power 2000watt mono's on 1 kicker and the sub still looks hungry. Not saying rockford is better than kicker,but im pretty sure that a 2000watt mono power amp can out perform a kicker 1500 watt mono. Guess what im trying to say is,i thought it would be a perfect match for the s15L7.

Well they do make RMS ratings for a reason. However powerhandling is greatly affected by the box involved.

Not sure of the specifics, as I am still pretty new to the diy stuff.

But 500 watts over the rms, cuz the zx1500.1 is underrated, seems to be a bit of overkill. If it really was able to take that in most applications, they would have raised their ratings.

U can keep the 1500 hooked up to it, just keep the gain lower.

turn off the bass boost.. That amp is a perfect match for the L7. What are the specs of the box?

I have the same amp, turn off the bass boost and watch your gains.

My box is only 2.5 cubic ft ported, tuned to 38 hz, and yea i think ima turn the bass boost down on the amp.

turn off the bass boost. I have that same amp and my bass boost is off, my gain is less than 1/4, and i crossed it at around 70hz, You will blow the sub if you keep the bass boost on. You're clipping the amp right now and the sub can't handle it.
