Looking for input on whether i should get dual 2ohm or dual 4ohm voice coils and wire down to a 2ohm or 4 ohm load for my kicker ZX1500.1 and Alpine 12 inch subs i'm planning on getting. for a given amount of input power will wiring to a lower ohm load allow the amp to put more output power to the subs? ihave a 1994 honda civic ex so more power i can get out for little in would be great if any advice

Yes. A 2 ohm load will give you more watts then a 4 ohm load on the same amp. Wiring to lower ohms cuts down on amp cost, but without proper electrical, it can really put a strain on your alt.

well, that kicker probly does somewhere around 1700 at 2ohms, so if you get dual 2s wired in series, each will get about 850rms, and unless you know what your doing, thats really pusing the limit of those subs. Now, dual 4s wired in series at 4ohm, is more optimal, i would imagine each would see about its rated power, or slighlty more. And in a civic, rated power to 2 type r's would be pretty loud

THIS. Or just turn your gains down.....

yeah well im trying to figure out ways to minimize input power and maximize output. Ill never be turning these all the way up but i wanna be able to squeeze a little mroe juice into them without have into require that much more imput power. i belive a 1994 civic alternator puts out 70-90 amps of powers. so if i can put in 1 amp and get 2 watts compared to 1 to 1 id rather do that so i can keep volume lower and still have reasonable bass and power output. Not trying to maximize just im improve efficiency in power use if i plan on keep rms power low
