kicker zx1000.1 with L7

it's says at the back.. 2ohm
Oh ok. Well what kind of stuff do you have access to there? How did you get the sub? You can either sell that and get a differnt sub, sell ur amp, or run it at 4 ohm which will only give your sub 500 watts (probably can get it up to 600)

Not sure how an l7 would perform if it was that under powered though

someone replied to me to get a 4ohm L7 for my zx1000.1, I'm sure I can sell my 2ohm and get a 4ohmL7, but I can't sell my zx1000. will that be ok?
Yes that will work you need a dual 4 ohm sub if you want to use that amp to its full potential

Is it true that if you run a sub underpowered, it will burn the coil or something like that? when I hooked the the zx1000.1 to the L7, and turn up the volume, it protects.why is it overheating? is it because it can't run the subs very well?thanks...

because you are running the amp at too low of an ohm load (impedence) on a 2 ohm stable amp.

also the zx 1000.1 has 4 speaker terminals but is only a 1 (mono) channel amp.

you really only need to hook up 2 of the four terminals

NO. That is an old myth... the only way to damage a sub is thermally or mechanically. In either case, you need to OVERpower it... http://www.bcae1.com/2ltlpwr.htm
The only thing running lower power will do is give you less output... unless you run the amp into clipping.

Could be any number of reasons... I'm not sure what kind of protection circuits the ZX amps have, but typically amps can go into protect mode from: overheating due to low impedance, short circuit, clipping, undercurrent. Make sure you have the sub's voice coils wired in series, and not in parallel. Also, is your electrical system stock?
is it because it can't run the subs very well?thanks...
No... unless you are running into severe clipping. In which case you need to either get a dual 4-ohm L7, or get another dual 2-ohm and run a pair.
