Kicker ZR360 Vs. Fosgate BD1000

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At even amounts of output(backing the gain down on the BD) which one draws less current at a 2ohm load. This will run a single CVR12.The issue is it being run off two deep cycles in a boat. The ZR360 was pushing a C12 SVC 4-ohm bridged mono. Now it is pushing a CVR12 DVC 4-ohm bridged mono and is kicking my HU off at higher volumes when the bass hits. You can see the lights dim on the HU(alpine). It had no issue running the C12 obviously at 4ohm bridged but the 2-ohm bridged mono seems to be ******* the juice..

I'm thinking the BD1000 draws less but is it substantially less or nearly the same?

FTR the boat has a generator that will maintain about 13v.

Maybe my ground is not adequate on the HU?

Thx for any guidance.

I do think my ground for the amp and HU is a single 4ga to the battery split at the amp then run to the HU through a 8ga.

I was mistaken.I have a single 4ga POWER to the AMP and then a 10ga to the HU split from the amp 4ga.

The HU and the AMP have their own 10ga ground from the battery.

I'm thinking the 10ga ground just isn't cutting it but it is the HU that is turning off.

Between the two amps, the BD1000 would have less strain on your electrical system.

I had a ZR600 and it kept blowing my fuses. It requires a strong electrical system simply because it's a Class A/B amp!

I guarantee that the ZR360 when bridged will nearly kill your car (meaning you can be driving with the system blasting and you can feel the car lag back because of voltage drop) and potentially blow fuses.

the ZR's are about 40% efficient, they are horrible in the efficiency dept //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Well guys remember it is a boat. The HU and amp are run off two Deep Cycle batts.Tha batts are mantained by a 20/20 amp charger.

1st, the HU is run off a single 10ga right to the battery. The amp has its own 10ga to the battery also.

2nd,The HU shares the single 4ga from the battery.I put the 10ga for the HU into the 4ga going to the amp.

I know these older Alpine HU's are very voltage sensitive so maybe it needs it's own 10ga from the battery instead of sharing the 4ga with the amp?

I could simply swap out the ZR360 for the BD1000 if that would make a good difference in power consumption?

I would suggest a different amp. I had a Kicker ZR360 running a pair of 12" CVRs and it is a current hog. The Rockford is a lil more efficient, but thats really because its a Class D compared to the Kicker being Class AB.

Since your just running the single 12" Cvr, I would recommend a more efficient amp, possibily a small class D.

I'm all ears....the CVR12 is in a slot ported box down firing box.

It'll have to be a used amp so suggest and I will search.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
