Don't read hte bottom unless you want to hear how it happened.. Basically my friends solo baric took 1600rms for over a hour straight frying it.. He has only had the sub a week.. I know its not a manufacturing defect, its simply too much power for too long cooked the coils and fried them..

What should we tell kicker? What can we do? Are we going to have to pay full price for a recone? Can we get a discount since the sub is so new?

My friend got screwed.. Just spent over $1500 on alarm + stereo install I did for him (I did all the stereo equipment, he paid a shop to install an alarm/remote start)

Kicker solo baric 15" L7 with a hifonics brutus 1600w matched to it, in 4.5cubes at 30hz.. (same setup I personally run)

Well his luck went bad when.. His remote start failed... Last time he parked his car he had the stereo turned up to full volume.. He went to work in his OTHER car, and left this one at home..

His remote start somehow failed and started his car.. Kicking his sub to full 1600ish rms of power, and running it like that for over a hour, or until it fried..

His mother called him time after time but he couldn't answer cause he was at work.. By the time he got home his car was on for over a hour, it was full of smoke, and he could not turn the car off tell he poped the hood (which tripped the remote starts sensor)...

The place that installed it was closed cause its too late, hes gonna call tomorrow and see what they are going to do about it (certainly either getting his money back on the remote start or having a new one installed) and going to TRY and get them to pay for the sub but I doubt they will..

It's just crazy to think, I could have been the one who installed the remote start, and I guarantee he would blame me for whatever happened.. Makes me never want to install a remote start for someone for risk of me having to pay out of pocket for repairs!

kinda retarded to park your car with the stereo on full tilt. I always turn it down when I park so I'm not blasted when I start my car up.

Ya I personally agree.. But eh, that's no excuse for the remote start to fail.. I mean, what if his car had the oil drained for a oil change and it started, could be his motor down the drain =\

I personally never even have mine at full tilt in the driveway lol, no where near my neighrborhood.. but ehh, still kinda ****ed as he wouldn't ever turn his to full tilt and leave it for a hour! lol

wow that sucks. if i had my shit on full tilt for an hour my neighbors would call the cops after 15 mins.
yea his neighbors were calling, both his brothers were trying to get inside the car lol...

When he got home he said 3 of his neighbors were outside raising hell with him lol..

Send it to spidermonkey, he'll take care of you for $20. He's our forum Kicker rep.

oh and btw, that sounds GREAT //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

kicker might take care of u, i know someone who cut the tinsel leads on purpose to get a new sub and they replaced it haha

if it was the shops install that ****ed it up then they should pay. but dont tell them you had it at full tilt.
Well the actual stereo install was mine

But it was the shops install that made the car start on its own.. But I guarantee the shop won't take blame for the sub, will only end up doing something about the remote start im sure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

doesnt matter really...

this is user error and it was the user who indirectly blew his own shit up...

so there is really no one to blame but himself..

regardless of any malfunction of a remote start or whatever...
