kicker vs mtx

ha ha ha. everyone says that. My first system was 2 old sony 12's with a 720 jensen amp, and a legacy crossover. yes, i know, it is a crap set-up, but it didnt sound "that" bad, and it lasted me four years (untill i sold em)

false??? everything that i have read says that a sealed box, with 10" subwoofers, will lead to a more clear and precise sound. ported makes a subwoofer much louder, but much harder to tune for a specific type of music (such as metal)

cant go wrong either way. the mtx will do alittle more power, but if you tune it right then itll do it power but not stress the amp as much. id go for the mtx, but both amps are great

ditch the sony

If you search around you will find the above to be inaccurate. Size of the driver and the box do not always determine if you will have more sq or spl.

IMHO, you will be less 'peaky' in a sealed box, as the sealed driver, usually has the better SQ alignment.

The thing about 10's having more punch than 12's is just a myth. If anything, the 12's will hit harder than the 10's given the proper enclosure and amplification. Personally I'd stay away from both MTX and Kicker subs. There are better ones to be had for the same, and in some cases, less money.

i have always loved the sound of 10"s compared to 12"s. They sound like they have more punch and kick. from what i have herd, 12s don't sound as good as 10's for metal.
Man, educate yourself please. You are misinformed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The enclosure is what determines how the sub will perform. If you want more of a "kick", then try sealing a sub or tuning a ported enclosure fairly high...

The only difference a subs size makes, is how loud it will get, i.e., a 10 will be louder than an 8 of the same model, an 18 will be louder than a 10 of he same model, etc, etc...

I listen to death metal and grindcore and I have a 15 ported. Sounds sweet as hell.

all, just personal preferences. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

if you ever watched that test with the New Orion HCCA VS...**** near every other high end sub on the market, the Kicker Solo X was the ONLY other sub to withstand 3KW+ for over 3 hours constant.....ALL the other subs FAILED, and rather quickly besides the HCCA. And they used the Stroker Pro, MTX (9500), The W7, and some other high end subs......\\PLUS YOU CANNOT BEAT KICKERS CUSTOMER SERVICE> point blank.

And what about the size of the car?? does this mean nothing?? maybe you should do some research to see how they relate.

That's nice, but I doubt there are too many people out there whose only concern when buying a sub is being able to take multiple K watts without blowing. Most people are looking for the performance vs price value factor. For this, there are better choices than MTX and Kicker.

and some examples are...???? i looked in to Fi, and you would need one hell of an amp to power those *****es. i am lookin at an amp for around 300-400$ and a sub for around 200-250$

Fi makes more than one sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

dont know why your going to the straight top of the line, if your wanting a sub to take 3kw for $200 you need to look into some pyle or some other junk

how many watts are you wanting to run, i lost my money to watts transfer sheet...

and what kind of sound are you looking for
