Kicker SX series

Has anyone used the Kicker SX series amps? I have a question about the gain settings. Thinking of an SX500.2 for a set of ID Chameleons in kicks. From reading the manual it looks to me like you ballpark the input voltage and the amp automatically sets the appropriate levels?!! This seems to easy to me. I'm probably way off but I figured I'd ask.

Not quite that easy. In the SX amps there are two separate gain settings. The GAIN RANGE is there to roughly match the amp to the deck. If the deck is rated at 4 Volts output, set the GAIN RANGE to 4 or 2 Volts. Most 4 Volt decks aren’t.

Then go to the GAIN control and set it like you would a regular amplifier. Turn the deck most the way up and increase the gain on the amp until the first indication of distortion is heard.

thanks...i new that was too easy....how do you like the sq of the amp...does it dirty the music at all?

Beautiful!. Now the big question is it worth the extra dough for the SX's over Orions?

1 SX500.2 & 1 SX400.2 for about $550

1 4002 & 1 3002 for about $350

Sorry if I'm a PITA, just all my researching, and yes I've searched alot, tell me Kicker and Orion are on par. Just want to justify the extra $200.

kicker > orion

imo. espically for SQ, and if im not mistaken, the warranty for kicker is better.

the DSP on the SX is flat amazing, even if I didn't work here I'd say that...it will tell you everything you need to know what is going on, and what is happening voltage, etc, etc....very good, powerful, and clean amps...

SX's are high end quality/build/performance IMO....I get a call from my dealer every time an SX install takes place....I wish I had more coin and another car to use them
