Kicker Subs and PPI amps

Aight, on behalf of my uncle:

3 - PPI a600.2's (2 ch. amp)

600w x 1 @ 4ohm rms (x3 = 1800w RMS total)

thinking of 3 L7's, but I think he should get 3 L5's (rated for 600w RMS each).

Should he get dual 2 or 4 ohms subs? I see that you can wire one 2ohm dvc sub for a 4ohm load which would work. Is it possible to wire each ch. of the ppi amp to a voice coil on the sub since the amp is 300w x 2 @ 2ohm? or should he just have the sub wired in series-parallel...I think that's it.

Also, would you guys recommend getting L5's or L7's with 600w's each?

Ignore how close you are getting to the rating of the sub. The L7's are better subs (at least better than the L5, but I would get something other than Kicker.) so those will do better. You need a 4 ohm load for each sub. Whether you use a single 4 ohm coil or a dual 2 ohm coil doesn't matter. If you go the dual 2 route, you will wire the two coils in series for a 4 ohm final load.

if this was my money, I'd probably go JL Audio w7 or atleast the new w6, but he won't listen to me, plus he says the Kickers get louder (higher SPL). I really don't care because **** near anything off of 1600w RMS will be very loud. I just thought the L5's would be better because they'd get closer to their xmax, but I guess I'm wrong.
