Kicker Spl/DeepBass box question

Does anyone know what the biggest box for the Cvx 15 is tuned at? When I do the math, I'm coming up with 26.7hz? Kicker tech support says 36-38hz? I added the port displacement (.97) to 5.0cu ft= 5.97 total. Then add the port they recommend, which is 3x15.5x22. I think this box is tuned a lot lower than Kicker claims? Does anyone see a mistake with my math?

Im too lazy to do the math, but I know that Kicker does in fact recomend high 30s tuning

You use the box volume after all displacements when figuring out the tuning frequency.

They way Kicker explains it is to add the the port displacement to the 5 cubes. When you get that, you just add their recommended port size. Try it on whatever box program you use, and you'll see what I'm saying. The sub displacement is already figured in. The bracing is not, but I don't see brace displacement bringing the tuning up 9hz?

With 5 cubes net and a 3x15.5x22 inch port I got 29hz.

just shorten the port, I talked to them last week about that same box, I think 16 inches was the port length. are you building this or just thinking about it?

I'm building it. I was just saying it's tuned lower than they say it is, and I was worried about it sounding weak on the higher bass notes?

Just do something like 4-4.25ft^3 at 32hz and you'll be fine. There's no reason for a 5ft^3 box unless you're working with limited power.

ya , it may sound weak on some notes if you tune to 32. They said that box with that port @ 36hz would be 14 inches, should be good there. I was thinkin of doin this box in my hatch, I have 600@ 1 ohm so it would match up good with the big box. you could do 1 8 inch round port if you box has the depth and you could start long then shorten as you tuned it higher till you liked it. You could experiment and start low like 28 hz .wow. get a cardboard concrete form from lowes home improvement for 8 bux. cut it to 20 inches or so and put some ducttape around it and start playing it. That way itd be easy to shorten an inch at a time til you get it right. The concrete forms come in 6 and 8 inch tubes at my store and 8 inch equals 50 sq inches of port. good luck.
