Kicker Solox 12's or kicker L7's

right now i have two 12" L7's in a tcab flared port box powered by a zx2500.1 at 1 ohm and its running fine and pretty loud. my question is if i take out my L7's and get solox's instead and run them the same way would they be louder? also would they fit right in the hole that my L7's are currently in or are the solox's a lot bigger? the reaqson im asking is because i dont wanna just order the solo's and have them not fit also i am going to be running just one zx2500.1 to both of them

The solo-x's wouldnt have near enough airspace and would need alot more power than just one 2500.1. You would need a 2500.1 per sub.

he is gonna need more electrical probably to to run 2 x 2500.1

well the bolt hole square is 11-1/16th on the l7's and ll-1/4 on the solo x so there is a 1/5 or so of an inch difference which should be manageable. The question is how big is your box?

we did a test with an L7 dual 2 vs a Solo X dual 2 and four Orion 1200d's, two strapped per coil. The L7 got only so loud and then failed, around a 145 at the dash in a grand cherokee, we put the solo x 12 in the same box and it was a bit over 1db louder and... didnt fail lol

The slos x's are considerably louder when given enough room and power.. i have heard 1x 12" solo x that sounded better AND louder than 2x 15" L7's being ran off my orion 2500D.

Well kicker reccomends 6 cubes per driver as optimal and 3 minimal so you are just over the minimum enclosure volume

you should be fine with 7 ft^3 the max vented per sub is 3 ft^3 at least thats what kickers solo x manual says so you should be fine its just your electrical and amp situation now.

just kidding that was sealed but if you went ported youd need about 12 cubes to get the subs to where you need to be.

Is the reason the solo x was only 1db louder because it was used in the same box as the L7? the L7 vented enclosure's go around 1.75-3.25cuft compared to the solo x's 3-6ft...sounds like you were starving the solo x and it would have been ALOT louder in a bigger box.

this box was around 2.5 cubes net, it was not all that small. i'd say a 1db direct swap out isnt all that bad...

to be honest its gonna cost you way more than you originally planned i think for what seems to be not that much of an db gain at all

given the same power, the L7 will be louder if it is getting full power already. If you have more power to give then go to the SOLO X. But its a big investment for only 1 or 2dB.
